Just fell down the stairs @ 25 weeks....

I just fell down the stairs, I did not hit my belly just my butt legs and sides. I want to call my doctor because I am really nervous but I have already called my doctor twice (for non appointment concerns) in the past 2 weeks and I dont want her to think I just a hypocondric (spelling?) My blood type is O- and I have to get the rhogam shot next month but im pretty sure she told me in the begining If I fall or get into a car accident I need the shot right away. Does anyone know about this? My cousin says you only need the shot if you start bleeding. I'm just concerned and need some advice on what to do I just don't want my doctor to eventually not take me serious because it feels like I call her everytime I scrape my knee. I am kind of cramping but not sure if this is the cause. any suggestions?

  • Call your doctor, even if its just for reassurance. It has obviously shaken you up, you may need checking out to be on the safe side
  • Call ur doctor that's y ur doc is there. N don't worry about wat they think good luck
  • Call your OB right away! That's what they're there for, hun. If you feel too uncomfortable doing that, call your local hospital & ask for advice. They will most likely transfer you to the OB ward nurse. I think you should be seen right away. I was always told falling & car accidents were two things a pregnant woman needs to go to the ER over no matter how small or harmless it may seem at the time. Whether you call your OB or your hospital, make sure you're seen today...right away! Your baby is far too precious to take chances with. Best wishes! :)
  • You do need to call your doctor hun. Most doctors will tell their patients to call them right away to get checked out after an accident or fall, anytime in pregnancy, regardless of blood type. Hope all is well hun!
  • Please call your doctor right away. Don't care what they think. You and your baby are most important.
  • Oh you poor thing! Call you're doc hun, stress/ shock isnt good for you both. Docs are there for you to call them NO MATTER WHAT it is! Hope all is ok. x

  • I would call just to b on the safe side. Its what u pay them for. I will tell you from experience that the 2nd and the 3rd day hurt like hell. I have done it w all of my pregnancies except w this one, this is #4. The 1st i landed square on my tailbone which caused me a lot of pain during delivery.
  • Call the doc sweetie
  • its always better to be safe than sorry ... :"> i fell at around 8 1/2 months.. sliped down the stairs and then fell foward landing on my hands and knees.. hurt like hell but i just waited for a lil while to see what was up and told my dr.. next time i seen her.. but if you think there is more of a danger it never hurts to call :>

Yes u need to if for any reason the fall caused your blood to get in with the baby then the baby has a high risk of being still born that's y u get the rogham shot to make your body not fight off the baby incase you transfer blood with the baby
  • Did you call yet?
  • I;m getting my shot this month it is necessary with negative blood unless ur partner also has negative blood. I would call the doctor forget what he or she thinks he gets paid regardless
  • Yea the nurse said that the doctor won't be in today so she made me an appointment for tomorrow... she said she doesn't think the fall makes me need the shot right away but I feel like I do need it and I'm pretty sure my doctor told me that in the beginning. Ugh I'm so annoyed should I go to the er?
  • I'm cramping but my daughter is moving.
  • Yea I would go to the ER...
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • I had to get the rogham shot and they gave me a card sayin if I ever fell I need to take the card in to the ER and get the shot again
  • I just went through this a few weeks ago when I fell in the shower. I am o- you need the shot within 72 hours of any sort of fall or anything that jars (spelling?) Your body and there's a risk of the placenta leaking blood and mixing with yours. This is not something you want to wait on.
  • @second_time_mommy7
Go to the ER. Chances are he's there if it's a weekday and he's not in the office. Plus, after 20 wks they send you straight up to L&D esp if it's preggo related. I'd go.
  • You could be going into labor early and you don't want that. Falling can cause it. Hun get checked out.
  • I just found out my hubby is A- which means that (correct me if I am wrong) but the shots is not really needed because we both have negative blood types. The shot was my biggest concern I am slightly cramping but I can feel my baby girl moving, should I wait for the appointment or go to L&D I cannot talk to MY DOCTOR only a nurse and this is really annoying me.
  • Please go to the ER. Why are you waiting?
  • You need to go in and be seen hun! Even if he is a-, blood type matters BUT EVERY pregnant woman needs to be seen after a fall or accident, regardless of blood types, to get checked and make sure everything is okay. We are all telling you the same thing hun and you're still asking if you should go in or not, the answer is YES GO IN! :)
  • Again. Why are you waiting? :/
  • I thought everyone was saying to go in because of the shot, and I am asking again to see if I should just wait until tomorrow since apparently the "nurse" thinks that its ok to wait. I am asking people who have had this happen since I cannot talk to my doctor fo whatever reason.
  • She is a nurse not a doctor please go get checked
  • It's not the nurse's baby so I wouldn't really pay her any mind. Just go in. What's the worst that can happen? You get peace of mind and maybe even a bonus ultrasound.
  • My midwife told me if you get any hard knocks or bleeding then you've to fone straight away so I would just to be on the safe side
  • last question should I go to the hospital that is closest to me or to the hospital I will be delivering at (1 1/2 hours away)?
