Even though I'm not supposed to...

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
I had an energy drink today!! (Save your judgements) I had to do it! Before I was pregnant I took Provigil for sleep apnea (most people take it for Narcolepsy...I found it to be a wonder drug). So I was always a WIDE AWAKE person...then I got preggers...entire first trimester was SOOOOO tired since I couldn't take my medicine anymore. Just started second trimester this week...just finished my Thesis Defense...getting my Masters on Saturday and have my entire family (plus crazy inlaws) coming in town tomorrow. By God I deserve a pick-me-up. (and there's no way my house will be clean without it).

I'm a rebel, i know.

Just be careful. Just starting your 2nd trimester, that energy drink is bigger than your munchkin. The issue caffeine brings is birth defects bc the baby drinks what you do so there heart speeds up like ours, but adults can handle it,not trying to sound like a lecture a cup of coffee or soda is fine just try to be easy with your intake. Good luck with everything else you have going on :)

  • My doctor rold me having one every now and then is ok. Definitely helps with migraines.
  • lol...@lil_buggie_3 and @mscheyla ... I couldnt even drink half of it. Such a light weight I guess. I used to take back 2-3 redbulls a day..now i can't even get through one. hmmm...I wonder what it's gonna be like when I have my first alcoholic drink again.
  • @hurstk28 that's a relief! My dr. said the same thing... although he said "pretty much anything is ok once when you're pregnant...except crack and anything stronger" My Dr. is a comedian.
  • I've noticed I am more sensitive to caffeine to I like the ice coffee @ dunkin I get a small and don't get half way through it and am bouncing off the walls
