parenting question...

edited May 2011 in Just for Fun
So... I have a 4yr old boy and he knows I'm pregnant and that there is a baby in my tummy. I'm 15 wks and not showing yet, so the other day we were out eating lunch and a very pregnant woman walked by and I told him that my tummy will get big like that as the baby grows. But now... every time he sees a man or woman that are heavy he asks if they have a baby in their tummy...it's only a matter if time until he says it loud enough. How do I explain it to him without putting this other label that some people are big? I'm just scared that something else will come of this....

  • My friends for year old does that too. She sees anyone big and says there pregnant. Think with her is she will walk up to you, poke your stomach, and say is there a baby in there? It's embarrassing at times, idk how to make them understand. Neither does my friend! Grrr

  • I have tried telling him that people come in all shapes, colors and sizes.
I think its just because a constant topic in our lives that he thinks about it.
I'm just hoping it passes soon because its going to be too embarrassing if somebody hears him.
    Thanks ladies for your opinions.
  • It does pass in time. My wife and I have a 6 yr old daughter and a 4 yr old son. We got it alot from our son. I started by reminding him only mummys can have a baby in their belly and after that he sort of just forgot about it all.
