  • Im curious to know too
  • No one has told me exactly what it is bt my doc said it will hurt and it cld start my labor
  • The doc usually strips ur membrane around ur last appt &usually u will ho into labor soon after! Like in a few days or so. Get ready! :-)
  • What membrane are the stripping and how?
  • When she does the internal exam she will run her fingers around your cervix to pull away your bag of water and stimulate your contractions
  • Does it hurt?
Omg how exciting im soo rdy to have my bby alrdy
  • It may b a little uncomfortable but not painful
  • Some people think it hurts. I just thought it was very uncomfortable. My midwife stripped my membranes in the morning and I was bleeding slightly after wards then that night my water broke and my son was born 9 hrs. later
  • Im 38+4 and just had my membranes stripped at my doc appt today. I've had some bleeding and cramping but that's all so far. It didn't hurt any worse than having my cervix checked. Its just uncomfortable. :)
  • I had mine done at 39 weeks... I was barely 1cm dialated.. and was in labor within 24 hours... I'm not sure what it is medically speaking that they do.. but it worked for my first! And I will def. Do it with this one too!
  • It hurt! It was awful for me...I actually think it was almost as bad as my contractions were :(
