bedrest? why?

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
My dr told me to take it easy. Im not sure if that means bedrest. He said to relax a lot. Keep my feet up and that if someone could go to the store for me to let them go. Ive also been going walking and he said to keep that to a min. Is this normal? I have so much energy and i feel bad when im just here laying down.

Is it important for me to rest Im 25 weeks 1 day?????

  • If he didn't specifically restrict you to bedrest, I wouldn't be concerned. It sounds like he just wants you to relax. I would recommend calling to clarify exactly what he is restricting you from doing.
  • Ohok thank you so much
  • Sometimes they don't want you to over due things basically just take it easy and don't do as much as you normally would that's what it sounds to me

Is there a reason why he would tell you to be on bedrest? Were you having contractions or was your blood pressure up? If everything was fine than yes it sounds like he just wants you to relax as much as you can, when you can. Its the walking thing that gets me though, walking is very good, safe, healthy, and beneficial to you during pregnancy. Don't overdue it to where you're getting so exhausted from walking, but if you're walking at your own pace and not over doing it, my doctor has always told me it was safe to walk up to 2-3 miles a day. I would call and ask to be 100% sure what he meant.
  • Yeah, I would call as @ellie3712 said. U need to be sure
  • I was fine at my last appointment. My blood pressure was fine and im not having contractions... Ill call anyway just to make sure.
  • @momtobe19: The walking issue concerns me as well, like @MommyOfTwoPrincesses said. Especially at just 25 weeks pregnant, when walking should be considered a safe, healthy thing for you to do. I was given the EXACT same advice by my OB, but I'm 33 weeks, swelling horribly, & my blood pressure keeps measuring higher each time I'm seen. They think I'm in the beginning stages of preeclampsia, & I'll find out more on the 24th. So I agree with the ladies on here who have suggested you call your doctor back & get some clarification as to why he would reduce your activity like this. Don't be afraid to ask plenty of questions when you see your OB; they're used to that & it's part of their job. Best of luck, hun! :)
