Basal Body Temperature Tracking

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Did anyone else track their basal body temperature throughout the month(s) before conceiving? By keeping track of everything I know the exact day we conceived and the day it implanted :-) would that be able to give me a more accurate age of my baby or is it still the same as the doctors told me?

Hey! I'm curious about this. I've been doing the basal body temp & i'm curious how do you know exactly when you ovulated & when it implanted? I want to learn more I'm having a hell of a time tracking ovulation!
  • Well I lucked out and tracked it the first month trying so I didnt have a lot of data to compare but my temp went up almost two degree's after conceiving. Spiked a degree at conception then went up another degree again the day after. It then stayed high till after my expected period. I wrote down the day I spotted which was nine days after my first temp spike and happened five days before my expected period. So that marked my implantation. The "what to expect before expecting" explains the methods you can follow and has a very handy chart section where you can record everything. Last period, vag discharge. Cervix position. Ect. Absolutely love that book
  • We tried for 2 years, I spent a fortune on ovulation tests and never got a positive reading...even testing twice a day! I also tracked basal body temp and had more of a relationship with that damn thermometer than with my husband! My temp would go from 96.7 to 99.1 all month long...looked like a freakin earthquake. I would hand it to my ob and he could tell right when I was ovulating. I tracked for 8 months, but I do know the exact day of conception.
  • It doesn't matter the day you concieved they still measure from the first day of your last period. With my son i knew the exact night that i had had sex that got me pregnant but they still went off my period. They said the date of conception didn't matter cause pregnancy begins before your pregnant.
  • @beardreams I have that book I will have to take a look! You did your temps right as you awoke right? When I read the instructions for my bbt it says that after ovulation your temp goes up about .5 a degree! Do you have the kind that goes to the hundredth? Like today my temp was 98.02 yesterday 97.45 it's been going up & down so I don't really know!
  • I normally run cold so any raised temp implies something for me. I did read sometimes it bounces and changes a lot though. And yes I took it every morning same time with a basal body temp thermometer that did to the hundredth. Also have a consistent twenty eight day cycle.
I have read that it doesn't matter the day of conception either.
    Good luck! @BabyLuv8
  • your lucky! I do not have a consistent cycle. usually ranges from 35-38 days. However these are the first days all month I've been over 98 so maybe I ovulated yesterday and I will get my period or a bfp in 2 weeks. We'll see
