I'm a Ftm and im terrified of child birth. I would like some type of gage of the pain.. so how is it compared to tattoos? That's the most pain I've been in lol.. I also have zero knowledge on epidurals. I heard there's different types? And im not even sure if I want one or to just go natural... I also have really bad anxiety so I don't know how im gonna handle this. Help ladies im a worrier lol
Luckily I still have 3 months to go...

  • Ive always thought I have a decent pain tolerance I have piercings and tats... isn't there a window of time they can give you meds? Do they give you something for anxiety that doesn't get baby high?
  • I'm getting brackson hicks and back labor and I'm extremely uncomfortable and it hurts. But I'm terrified of needles so I would say no but unfortunatly I have no choice because I HAVE to have a c section. So I have to get a spinal. :( good luck on your choice. And tattoos just turn me on...<.< lol I know tmi
  • It's not bad at all I just got mine about 3 hrs ago and it feels so much better my hubby and I decided not to get it an I told the nurse I wasn't going to get it after a hour I had to get it now I'm just waiting for her any min :)
  • And I will say tattoos hurt way more than an epidural

  • Yikes! How long do you get contractions till go time?
  • Get the epidural!if u wait to late,I can't get it.if u get it too early,it'll wear off when u need it most, while ur pushing.getting the epidural doesn't hurt its when it wears off that's a BITCH.
  • I would get it around 5 or 6 centimeters.

  • I'm like u can't handle pain lol! I've had 2 kids both with happy-durils as I like to call them and had no problems. Didn't feel much at all. Worse part is the shot in ur back b4 they insert the needle. It's to numb it a bit. Oh the sound is nasty! Like grinding bones... ewww that's the worse part really!
oh n props to all u natural birth ladies! Wish I was strong like u ladies!
  • I heard epidurals can possibly make you paralyzed. I dont remember where I heard it but is that, to any extent, true?
  • Yeah pain meds take to long if they even work on me too. Natural for me. This is pregnancy number 3 for me. I just pray my twins come out like my other two. Which was pretty quick. I walked in the hospital both times after my water broke at 5-6 cm. Hopefully the same or similiar will happen this time. Im all for natural. Pray I can go natural this time too.
  • Im not going to lie it hurts but afterwards you feel like super woman! I got to nurse right away and I even walked from my delivery room to my recovery room. I was up and walking my self to the bathroom and my hoo-ha didn't hurt that bad afterwards because I used that numbing spray and the tucks cooling pads. It's like cooter crack lol. I loved my natural labor and deliveries. I walked around during labor at the hospital and only had an IV in for fluids. Just know your options and be flexible in case yoy wind up needing anything. Above all trust your body. It knows what to do. Don't tense during contractions it makes the pain worse and stops the contractions from working as efficiently and quickly. I never took birthing classes. I just read about it and informed myself on what I wanted to know. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. :)
  • I used the tucks with my daughter but of love to know about this spray! I had an epi with my first, and it wore off. This time I'm going natural. I have a bad back, and getting the epi seemed to not agree with my back.
  • I had my daughter natural. I really cant remember the pain real well. The only thing I can compare it to is when you get a cramp in your leg but 500 times worse. It sounds bad but isnt as bad as you think.

I will put it this way I have 3 tattoos one across my foot (5 stars) one on the right side lower back. And one in the middle of my back shoulderblade to shoulder blade up to my neck bone. I fell asleep with last two of them. My first was my foot and it hurt the "worst" but didn't hurt. I would get 5 epidurals before I tattoo my left foot.. I barely felt my epi. But it is a little tender afterwards I will tell you that.
