Any Rh(-) Moms Out There???

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
I found out a month or two ago that I'm Rh(-) and my midwife isn't worried, my mom isn't worried but I've been wondering if this unique tag is the reason I miscarried last yr and what's it going to be like after I have this baby. Even though none of my doctors seem to give it a second thought, I'm still curious and wondering what it was like for someone who is Rh (-) and on child #2

  • I'm RH - and on child number 2. With my daughter I had a rogham shot around 28 weeks and one after I delivered. She has a + blood type.
  • I was around 8 wks...i think...i hadn't had a sonogram yet.
  • I have had the shot too
  • I'm rh- too, you'll get the shot either late in your second trimester or early in your third, then again after baby is born. This is only if the father is RH+. If you notice any bleeding or spotting after your shot while pregnant tell your doctor because it might not of taken and they will have to test you.

It is nothing to worry about. :) if you are really worried let your doctor know, they should be able to answer any questions you have and/or confirm/deny anything that anyone here said.
  • With my first kid I didn't know I was Rh- so I lost it and they gave me a shot. With this kid I have to get another shot at 7 months and then after birth if the child takes my husbands blood. 11 weeks today and can't wait to find out what I'm having!
  • I'm sorry what is rh-? new momma just curious
  • I am B-
I already had my rogham shot at 29 weeks and I will get another within 72 hours after delivery.
  • I am 6 weeks along and rh- that father is positive but I have been very worried about the same thing but from what I have reading u normally don't have to get the shot until the 2nd trimester. But I have been having this brownish discharge for a week now but no pain so I guess its nothinh to worry bout
  • I am rh- this will be my 4th pregnancy and the father of my first 3 was rh+ and so is the father of this baby. I just got a Rogham shot in the begining of the third trimester and and had no complications.

I'm rh- (baby and baby daddy +) and after I had my son the hospital forgot to give me my rhogham.......big ooooops.......but any way if anyone has had a miscarriage or not and feel that it has to do with your rh-, just ask your dr to do an antibody screen on ur blood. If you have a + antibody than your body can attack your rh+ baby if you have a negative antibody......no worries your rh+ blood has not been mixed with your rh+ baby. Hope this helps someone.***** by the way my antibody testing came back negative....and I have had a miscarriage since, so some miscarriages do just happen :( . So talk with your dr about an antibody scree

its your blood type you are either positive or negitive....if your negitive and the fathers is positive or you dont know you need to get a shot of Rhogham so your bodys blood cells dont attack the babies.
  • I'm a- and my husband is o+. Every woman in my family is rh-. It's fairly common. You get a shot after each pregnancy and one at about 28 weeks. Just make sure they test for antibodies during each blood draw. It's not a big deal and it usually does not affect the first pregnancy. Something about blood mixing.
  • wow I have a lot to learn but that's interesting is there any questions I should ask my midwife for my first appt
