i wanted to get on wic cuz with all our bills doesnt leave much but my husband makes to much to begin with so id have to buy it but ive heard such good things just want to get it just have to be sure lol thats when i relie on pregly
I have the double electrical one, I got it from Kaiser when I had my daughter! Love it! They are very pricey. I think the one I have is like $300. Check your resources a lot of places give you high quality breast pumps!
My lactation consultant advises mommas to get only the medela pump. She told me that the others leak breast milk back into the motor and can increase your chances of getting infections.
Where I live wic doesn't give you a pump untill the baby is 2 months old! How am I supost to brestfeed my newborn??? && there the ones who pushed re whole breastfeeding. Im so annoyed with wic! Im on maturnity leave, how am I supost to drop 300 bucks on a pump?
i didnt get to breastfeed because my son didnt latch but when i needed to relieve the pressure i used a medela pump its the only one that would get anything out!!! i had three and its the only one that worked.. i got it free thru my insurance.. they give you the motor for the pump to rent and i just had to buy the pump pieces it was a 200 dollar machine i got for free. check with your insurance and hospital to see if they have something like that in your area.. nothing better than a hospital grade pump! good luck
@devins_mommy have you talked to your ins company? My son was a preemie and I got a note saying it was medically neccesary since he was in level 2 nursery. What I had to do is buy the pump but then they reimbursed me once I gave them a copy of the letter. Not sure if that will work for you but thought I would throw it out there as a possible solution. :-)
I have the medela 'swing' it work really well, and quick, you can also get sterile bags with it, so you can express and put it straight in the fridge or freezer. Just make sure you take good care of the membrain (you get a spare, and can buy more though)
Thank you all ladies this is really helpfun @mnbaby3 i had no idea that insurence could pay for them deff ganna look into that do you just ask your doc for a scrip? And then you get one or can i just go to a pharmscy that i kno has them and ask
@wiseccourt I got mine from the hospital and they billed me for it. I got a note from my doc stating it was medically necessary since my baby was a preemie and wasn't strong enough to latch..plus he had to be away from me in level 2 nursery. I had to send a copy of the note to them then they reimbursed me for like 85-90% of the cost. I would have went with that pump even if they wouldnt have covered it though :-) I don't think my particular ins would have covered it if it wasn't deemed medically necessary...but every ins is different. Worth checking into :-)....maybe check into if you will be going back to work and will need to pump even if there is no other medical reason?? Good luck!
