I was on the 5year iud and it was great bc I never had a period. Pills I forgot to take and you never really know for sure if they are going to work or if your on an antibiotic it makes the chances of getting pregnant again higher. I like the iud.
  • I had the mirena and hated it. My periods never went away...I never knew when I was going to start and it gave me the worst pain in my side. I know others who have it and love it though.
  • I had cramping but my periods stopped after a month of having it but I did have it taken out though. You can't ttc with the iud lol.... everything has side affects and the affect everyone differently. Would I get it again, probably. It helped my periods out where I almost died bc I lost so much blood from my AF. So the iud helped me out.

Sorry dumb phone posted that three times! So sorry
  • Well the scary side effects like sterile and miscarriage ect scare me. I read on the FDA site some women have gotten breast cancer and I read that u can get cysts.
  • There's always risks to everything in life. Pills cause blood calso also. Just saying.
  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Had a horrible experiance with the iud, mirena one, i wish i never got it. It made it hurt to have sex, and i used to like to all the time. Had it in for a year or more, my sis had the same problem :(
  • Don't do the IUD-has the same effectiveness of the pill but higher risk if it fails will be an ectopic pregnancy plus many other side effects. Anyone I have seen get depo didn't loose Any baby weight. I'm going on the pill, an older brand not the new ones where side effects and warnings are linger than the benefits. Make sure you do your research with hormone levels and everything
  • When my mom got the IUD she could barely walk out of the Dr office
  • I had mirena all five years it was awesome I got preg exactly one month of having it out I'm getting it again after the baby
  • I loved the nuva ring! I set a reminder on my phone to take it out and a reminder to put it back in a week later. It was hard to forget to put one back in bc I knew as soon as I did, my period would stop about 12 hrs later. It was also nice bc if it was supp to be taken out but I had plans in the next couple days I could just leave it in a cpl extra days and my dr said thats perfectly fine :) I previously had heavy periods and didnt at all with it.
  • It hurts Wen u first get it and u bleed for a little bit but then it goes away I couldn't walk out of doctors office either
  • I was on depo provera and I gained too much weigh so I got off of it. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone wanting to have kids in the future!
  • The iud was the worst form of birth control I've ever used. I had the worst period ever. Let me give u an example def tmi. I was at work changed my pad and tampon (i had to use both they were so heavy) using heavy day ones 20 mins later I had blood down my pants and legs had to walk home and change my clothes (lucky I worked 2 blocks from home). The worst cramps imaginable I'm taking about worse then labor pains I was taking 3 viccodins every couple of hrs and still was in a massive amount of pain. It got to the point where I had to call out of work evry month for the first 2 days of my period. I ended up getting it removed short after. Def would NEVER recommend it to anyone.
  • I was on depo for ten years and loved it but I don't like the waiting period to get pregnant. I guess my bf says no to the iud due to all the pregnancy stuff
  • everyone responds diff to all contraception. i wouldn't recommend the depo. i only went on it so i wouldn't get a period due to being on the pill that made me get a period every fortnight with random bleeding in between(was the only contraception i could go on due to breastfeeding) i was on the depo for 18moNths then decided to ttc. by then i had piled on20lbs in about a month. i never got a period to try conceive so went docs and it had given me polycystic ovaries.had to go on the pill to get my hormones balanced and periods started again.nearly a year later we finally conceived =)
  • I liked the ring but stopped after it gave me a lot of bad headaches. My dr refused to give me bc due to that because its the lowest dose and I had so many headaches. He said I would be better off with an iud or implanon buy I want another child in about a yr so I don't think I should get that. I'll stick to condoms
  • I got pregnant while on depo. I am having my tubes tied at 6 weeks postpartum.
  • I loved depo but it takes to long to have a cycle after.
  • I was on the depo for like 3 years and it made me gain so much weight! I got really depressed about getting fat so i stopped it this past october and had my first period in december and got pregnant in december! I think after my baby comes i will try the pill.
  • My dr asked about what I plan on using for bc this week. I told her I want to get tubes tide. And she told me they wont even discuss that until my 6 week checkup. Wtf I'm almost 28 and this is our 2nd and last child.
  • @cetheridge a lot of doctors wont do it at a young age. Back 11yrs ago when my daughters aunt had a baby they did it right after she gave birth and she was 20 something.

The thing is a lot of women tie them and regret it cause they pretty much took that option of another child away. My kids aunt regreted it cause her son died of sids :(
but your Dr may do it. My friends Dr said she wouldn't do it till at least 6 weeks so she could heal and also think about it cause she is 31.I think your Dr just wants to wait so you can recover first :)

I know nada about other birth controls..so this discussion help me..and i do go based on reviews alot..so maybe ill take the pill..?? Idk..i did depo w/ my son and didnt lose any baby weight like others..and i did the" pull out method" and didnt get pregnant for 4 yrs..i really think i got pregnant this time from when we use a condom..
  • @Beatrice1436 I did depo for ten years and loved it but maybe my massive weight gain was cause of it lol. I never thought about that. I was in orthomicronor before I got prego and liked it. If you nurse it is one of the only pills u can get on.
  • I havengt had a chance to read all of your guys' comments..but I swear everyone is gettin an IUD these days..I swear I'm the only one choosing the pill. I'm only 36wks 5 days but they already gave me my RX..it starts with a J...its also called "the mini pill" cuz it has no estrogen (because I'm breastfeeding) I don't like the side effects of the IUDs and a good friend of mine had hers put in and they put the wrong one in and she ended up having to have a painful procedure..another friend doesn't ever know when her period is going to start, she cramps all the time and her baby is 5 months old and she hasn't gone 2 wks without bleeding..
  • @heatherlynn the iud has the most scary side effects that I don't think its worth it. I thought orthomicronor was the mini pill? If you can let me know what your pill is called that be great. I'm starting ortho tomorrow
