  • foods high in fiber are good. fruits and nuts. Drinks that say light. No OJ it brings your sugar up sky high. Whole wheat breads. I'll keep thinking. hope that helps a little.
  • Look for things lower in sugar or sugar free and things lower in carbs. Whole grains are good in cereal, pasta and bread. sourdough bread is less carbs than whole wheat. Light juices are good, or things like crystal light. avoid raisins and dates...they are super high in sugar. You just have to get used to reading labels. It is very important. I am type 2 diabetic, before I got preggo, so I have to be extra careful now. I how this helps a little... If you need more info let me know.. I am happy to help. Good luck :)
  • Sugar free jello and sugar free whip cream is a good dessert like food. I find that tuna and hamburger keeps my sugar low. I had a in n out burger protein style and that was ok, I was pretty low on the glucose
  • The diabetic educator told me that u just have to cut back carbs. Aka pastas, potato, fruits, sweets, etc, but u can have all the veggies, meat, cheeses, nuts, etc that u want. I been wanting steaks lol. It sucks with gestational. They just told me I had it. I want icecream bad! Lol hope all that helps
  • Thank you all of you ladies! I appriciate you responding!!! @romeike89 I know! All I want.is sugar and ice cream! I was thinking about looking for.sugar free ice cream! I just miss having dessert every night!
  • There are a few companies that make sugar free ice cream. Smuckers even makes sugar free caramel and chocolate sauce as well as hot fudge topping. They have sugar free oreos too :)
  • @steeny and @romeike89 try carb smart icecream bars... they r pretty good, very low carb, and made with splenda
  • @steeny I just found out I have it too and I am almost 32 weeks.. I almost cryed the first day cus I was so hungry my lil cousin has it though so my aunt told me some things.. I've been. Testing n my numbers are from 80 to 110. 2 hours after so some snacks are cucumbers or tomatos with fat free or light ranch hardly brings ur numbers up.. oil n vinegar on those are better.. I eat 60 to 80 calorie sugar free pudding packs, I eat peanut butter on a half peice of wheat toast, um. Trying to think.. I made shepards pie no mashed potatoes lol.. I bought cheese slices they don't bring it up at all.. spoons full of peanut butter, sugar free pop sicles, n then I bought sugar free gum to chew on when I can't eat an am hungry it helps, eggs with cheese and 5 calorie water flavor packets then u drink a lot n fill up.. hope this helps lol
  • I have been eating sugar free or no sugar added popsicles like mad!!! If you want the taste of sugar but not the carbs cool whip is 1 carb per tablespoon. Jello makes a sugar free temptations jello.that's 4 carbs per cup. I have also bought light juice. Just check the carb content on the back. Bread has been a little more difficult. Trader joes has a sprouted grain bread that tasted good and was low carb. But this week I found white whole grain bread that was 20 carbs for 2 slices at Meijer. It was meijer store brand. Lean cuisines (on sale at kroger now for $1.68!!!) Has numerous entrees that are 45 carbs and under. So does Smart ones and some of the michelinas. I have to stay away from the rice dishes and noodle type pastas alot though. TGI Fridays have meals in a bag like Bertolli or Wanchai Ferry. The Fridays loaded potato skillet and I think thai chicken are lower carb. I can eat half a bag for lunch ;) for breakfast if you can stand to make scrambled eggs with bacon, sausage, cheese, hamburger, onion, pepper or any combination of the above my carbs stay low. It has meant alot of cooking at breakfast which I dislike though. Yoplait has a lite and fit yogurt that depending on the flavor is about 16-18 carbs. I usually eat that with mixed nuts. If I really don't want to cook. I have had to almost eliminate pasta and rice dishes from our diet even though we always ate whole grain pasta >:p also turkey bacon has become my best friend in a pinch. And if im starving and want something heavy and filling butter burgers (single patty) with cheese is about 35 carbs and oh so tastey. Finally the ferrero rocher balls in the candy section are 5 carbs each or 15 carbs per packet. They have been good for chocolate cravings. Hope that helps good luck with the gestational diabetes. It gets easier once you grow accustomed to the diet. I've actually thought about continuing parts of it because I have lost weight being preggers and eating this way. I do miss my pasta though and cereal.
