shopping is a nightmare

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
Is anybody else hating shopping with a big belly? In the next month I have a big valentines day, an anniversary, and a nice night out coming up and I have nothinggggg to wear. I am 20 weeks and the tummy didn't start looking pregnant till about 2 weeks ago and has BLOWN UP. I can't afford really nice maternity clothes (the cheaper ones are not near nice to what I need). I try and shop but I feel huge! I may just not be comfy with my new body yet but I think I look horrible in all outfits. Please tell me im not the only one loving my unborn baby but hating the bump it lives in.

  • youre not the only one! Motherhood maternity store is super expensive for how fast we will be growing! I looked on craigslist and got a box of decent shirts for $10! I also have cousins who gave me their shirts, but its impossible to shop because (Im 24 weeks) were going to grow out of them soon. I suggest buying a cute dress or good pants and then looking on Craigslist for shirts. Target has cheap sale stuff but Ross is even better. I have worn the same two nice shirts for special occassions in last month.
  • I found a dress today I fell in love with it but the second I put it on I started crying. My boyfriend said I looked beautiful when I sent him a picture but I don't see it. I've asked him if I can just skip every single occasion in which I have to dress remotely nice until my body is back... he said no. Dangit. Maybe I should just suck it up and get the dress... but
    I doubt ill be comfortable

  • Oh my gosh this is exactly what happened to me! I started crying in the dressing room! Well what I found out is if I have my bicep area covered I feel alot better about myself. Then I do simple make up stuff to wear people would notice my face then my belly and nothing in bewteen! I am super self conscious, and I have found small stuff to be ok with, then it gets better as you find those little things that make you feel better. My husband has told me millions of times how beautiful I look, but never listen for some reason.
  • I am trying Destination Maternity tomorrow...if no success then oldnavy.com
  • I think what I hate is I have one of those boyfriends where he can wear whatever he want, cut his hair in any way, all that jazz and still looks really attractive. That's not fair. Pregnancy glow my ass... that's just the morning sickness, feeling attractive during pregnancy has become a 24hr job. Uuuugh. If I could just wear basketball shorts and XXL shirts and be just as good looking as Americas top models, this would be a Hallmark world.
  • I always find the cutest clothes and the perfect price online... but that's a risk im not willing to take. Returns are too much of a pain in my butt.
  • I hear you I went to buy some lingerie for monday and it just depressed me
  • Yeah I've already thrown the idea of lingerie out the window. Granny panties and support bras. Hell yeah. But then again nobody sees those particular articles of clothing
  • I agree the pregnancy glow is a bunch of bull! Actually I wear sweats and basketball shorts all the time. I played most of my life, and I like it best when I wear my smaller men T shirts (S or M) and my belly sticks out. Like I said, do your make up a little differently or hair and might help take your eyes off what you dont like. I promise how you feel will go away! Just gotta find something that works for you. =)
  • Forever 21 has a online and in store matternity clothes lines now. I got nice pants and a tshirt for 17$ all together.. hope this helps
  • I will have to try that out. Thanks! I've always loved forever 21, maybe I will have some luck
