epidural after effects?!

edited May 2011 in Giving birth
I had my son on the 14th and had an epidural. Ever since then my lower back and the top left side of my butt have felt numb. It is very annoying and I feel like it will never go away. It makes it very uncomfortable to sit anywhere. Has anyone else had similar situations?

  • Omg ur scaring me (tear drop)
  • :( didn't mean to. I just hope this goes away and the didn't mess up my nerves or something >:p
  • It can be that way for a while. My epidural didn't work
  • Another side effect can be migraines
  • I had my baby a week ago and i feel perfectly normal :/
  • Mine worked great with no side effects.
  • I had horrible lower back pain for a while with my last pregnancy it shall pass tho @mommy2b51111
  • I hope so! Thanks ladies
  • I've heard that there's side effects that usually fade after 6 mos. I'd check with dr to be safe
  • So I had one over 7 yrs ago and I'm still having effects. Chiropractor said it messed up my lower spin. They actually had to do it twice bc it was put in wrong the first time. But to be honest with u I'm doing it again. I'd rather have lower back pain that can be some what corrected by a good chiropractor then feel the pain off giving birth.
  • I am so terrified of something like this happening that's why I am going to try with all my might to not get one. I hope your side affects go away! That sounds like no fun!
  • For some reason it effected me really strong too which I'm not sure if that's why its still numb. I got mine at 4am and it was still partially there after midnight. I could hardly move my toes. I'm glad I got it though.
  • So ladies how does it feel when u are actually pushing the baby out when u get the epidural?? I want to get one this time cause I did my last three all natural and I want relief this time!!
  • @mommaof3inMI I didn't think labor was that bad. I mean you can feel the baby moving down but its basically just pressure it wasn't painful for me. I was expecting it to be really bad but my experience was good.
  • My friend had the same thing hers got to where it was Sharp pains. It's just a risk for anything to be inserted into your back. I'm terrified of them, I'm hoping to go natural
