What makes the amniotic fluid low?

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
Just out of curiousity. On my first pregnancy it was a bit low, but I was being monitored 24/7 and they got it back to normal. I just hope it doesnt happen with this pregnancy, the baby doesnt move as much lately.

  • Good question!!!!
  • My fluid went from a 6 @ 36 weeks to a 15 @ 37 weeks. They said he could have swallowed a lot and not peed it out yet. Now I have an ultrasound every week before he comes to make sure it doesn't go low again.
  • I wonder if being hydrated helps to keep the amniotic fluid on a normal level. I am being checked once a week aswell, just in case it happens again. *-:)

  • Ultrasounds usually
  • How does it feel when your fluids are low? I'm 28wks 4ds and my stomach has strunk. Like its more compact. She is still moving like crazy but I dont know why it seems so much smaller. Could it be that my fluids are low?
  • @grnfish73 I dont think that you can feel when your fluids are low, but if you notice that your baby isnt moving much, call your dr, they will do an u/s and make sure everything is ok with your baby. Also, drinks LOTS of water, keep yourself well hydrated, that helps a lot too.
