experienced moms choices on cribs...

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
There was a wonderful thread started that I came across yesterday about choices on carseats...needless to say I had never even realized I could have made my life so much more difficult if I choose the wrong carseat. After reading all the ladies posts I decided on the perfect one :) Now I am just hoping some of you ladies can give the same great advice on what is best for a crib. Again this is my first pregnancy, so out of excitement I could have seen myself just buying anything but this app has really opened my eyes to the bigger picture and things I would never have thought of...

  • I'm not experienced but I say look into the 4-in-1 cribs! That's what I'm going to try to get :) they start as a crib, then a toddler bed, then a daybed, then a full bed! All you do is get the conversion kits when ready. It seems so much easier....they are online and at target, walmart, etc. They range from $150-$500.
  • I have 2 boys and I really say get a crib that turns into a toddeler bed and then a full size bed after ...... You will get your moneys worth that way.....check the stores out and see if they are sturdy.....I always shake the floor models a bit to see if they rattle too much because you know that the baby will be jumping in the crib eventually...... I bought those beds 10 years ago for my son then bought the same one a year later for the other son.....I had them for ever and they lasted....as long as you can shake it and it doesnt feel loose to you and it is sturdy it should be ok..... espeacially if all moms shake them and they are still sturdy .....I hope i am not the only crib shaker out there....LOL. Some of them no come with the toddeler rail after the crib stage and that would be a plus.....mothers instinct is best ..... but dont buy one that isnt put up in the store as a model....chances are it had been up at one time and been shaken to peices...LOL ...Just saying....I could be right ...Or wrong but I trust my instincts
  • Say three in one my daughter is almost two and I started her in a bassinett and then got her a crib by the time my next baby comes my 2yr old will be in the crib but we will change it into a toddler bed then when our baby is ready for it we will buy our daughter a new bed and our baby will grow up with the three in one. I believe they save more money and they .are really nice styles
  • I got my son the baby cache lifetime heritage crib and plan to get the same one for my baby girl.
  • K three in one and toddler rail...check :) thanks gals ;)
  • That helps me out, too....i was wanting to get the 3-in-1 anyways but i didnt know which to buy, since there are a few different companies that make them.....is there one company that has better quality cribs over the others??
  • The baby cache is considered a 4 in 1 and is made of 100% solid wood. You can only buy it at babys r us.
  • My Mom just bought me the 3-1 on excited but i don't get to see it still the baby is almost here when she brings it from cali lol
  • Babies r us have nice ones. Me and the hubby looked at all of them and checked to see which ones were harder to scratch. We didn't want anything would scratch easy kids are hard on everything
