Did you know that if you cook your chicken or turkey breast side down that it will be more moist? I do it every year with my turkey and its AMAZING! @seifer12211 just an FYI lol
Ya that's what I do, though my turkey didn't turn out as good as my chickens lol I made turkey for first time this past year @ashley_smashley but im learning
I love me some roasted turkey! I always mix up a butter paste with butter, salt and pepper, and a bunch of fresh herbs and then cut a slit in the skin and use my hand to get it underneath the skin ..and really pile it on. Then I pat salt and pepper on the outside of the skin. Have you tried that? ...man all this talk of turkey has made me want thanksgiving dinner...maybe I will make one this weekend..lol
I make bbq in the crockpot that's really tastey and easy.
1 onion 1 apple A few lbs of chicken 1-3 depending on how much you want to make 1 tsp nutmeg 1 tspcinnamon 1 tap cayenne pepper Optional 2 tap ginger (we love ginger!!) Water
I layer the onion slices on the bottom flat and covering the surface. I put the chicken (frozen or thawed) on top of the onions. Add all the spices on top of the chicken and then put a layer of apples over top the chicken. You can use diluted apple juice or water and pour it over everything until it just covers the chicken. Cook it on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8 hours. When its done cooking discard most of the onions, and apples drain the water. Shred the chicken with a fork (it should be extremely tender and fall apart when as you shred) mix in 1/2 bottle to a full bottle of bbq sauce of your choice to desired taste/consistency. (We really like the Sweet Baby Rays bbq.) Cook on low with bbq sauce for an hour. It keeps for at least a week and is great for potlucks and quick bbq sandwiches!
@xILovebzdlx My son can be picky sometimes and he dislikes tomato sauce, BUT he will eat cooked spaghetti with a little butter and grated parmesan cheese. I love to make a turkey pasta bake that is a tad on the healthier side without sacrificing flavor and tastes amazing reheated!
*this recipe can easily be altered, these are just what I use*
1lb ground turkey 1 box whole grain spiral pasta 1 jar spaghetti sauce 1 small can mushrooms 1/2 c. green pepper 1 & 1/2 c. shredded cheese blend 1/2 c. mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a large pan, bring pasta to a boil & cook thoroughly; drain & set aside. In a large skillet, brown turkey. After turkey is browned, add sauce, mushrooms, & green pepper; continue to cook. Add pepper & salt if you like.
In a casserole dish, use a little sauce to prevent pasta from sticking then layer in this order... 1/2 of the pasta 1/2 the sauce 3/4 c. cheese blend the other 1/2 of the pasta the rest of the sauce the rest of the cheese blend and top with the mozzarella cheese
Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese melts. Serve! Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated.
Seriously love this and now that I've typed out the recipe, I'm craving it. lol
