good news, bad news, and worse news

edited May 2011 in Pregnant
Good news: is that they no longer think I have lupus which makes me happy. My grandma had lupus and was always a wreck.

Bad news: they think I have a rare form of kidney disease, they are running more tests to be sure. I see a specialist on Monday to find out my options. The doc said if I do have it, I would have had it for quite some time and that being pregnant just put it into high gear.

Worse news: two worse parts. One if I do have the kidney disease they will more than likely have to do a kidney transplant meaning I could lose the baby, wont find that out until Monday or later though. Second worse news is what I thought was poop last night in my bath was actually blood clots. They know that now because I thought I pooped in my bed and it was blood clots..looked the exact same as the one in the bath and I didn't push this time either! :(

Still scared out of my mind, they have given me pain meds but I refuse to take them.
thank you everyone for your support!

  • Oh my! Im so sorry! But doesn't it take a long time to get a kidney if u do need one? They won't let u carry the baby anyway but deliver early?
  • @mandac10 Im only 16weeks so if I deliver now it wont make it anyway. They don't know yet if I will need one or both. But back when my bad had first stages of kidney failure my sister and I both got tested to see if we were a match. She has already said she would come down and give it to me Haha she is sweet....but we don't know if that's the case yet or not.
  • Hoping everything goes well for you and it's not what they think. Thinking about you and baby :)

  • I am SO glad to hear it isn't Lupus. Lupus does attack different organs-heart, kidneys, lungs. Mine is my lungs. Plus clotting is one of the things, so its a great thing they have ruled that out. I hope whatever is ailing you, they can find out quickly & treat you immediately. I am on pain medication, I wouldn't take it at first either, but I compromised with the doctors that I will take only a half a pill at a time (allowed 4-6 Vicodin a day) but I will only take as needed. I take maybe a total of 2-3 a week. They don't do much, but if the pain is bad enough, it takes a little of the edge off. Hang in there, we are all rooting for you!!
  • Im so srry you are going through this......ill be praying for you guys. Keep us posted.
  • @mrsdelrae thank you for your kind words! So many thoughts and questions are going through my head. Im keeping a list so I can ask the specialist Monday.
@newmommy_navywife think you for your prayers.

I've been crying on and off the past little while. Just scared to lose this bundle. :( my husband stopped by after work to drop off my kindle and laptop. He went back home to sleep, he has to work early in the morning.

Luckily I have my own room. But I can't get out of bed so I guess it doesn't matter anyway, part of me wishes I had a roommate so I had someone to talk to.

Thank you ladies for helping me through this hard and scary time! :(

  • 34 years ago when I was a little boy my mother found out she had kidney disease and promptly started dialysis. At the time treament was rudimentary at best and life expectancy was short. 17 years ago she finally received her transplant and today, (34 years later), she is still going strong. Treatment can be tedious and trying at times but it's not the end of the world or your life. Keep a positive attitude because you have a long life ahead of you. Sorry for the not so great news and our prayers are with you.
