So my fiance wants a namesake if its a boy to be named after my fiances dad and my fiance. So I said ok even though its NOT what I want. Then last night my fiances grandma says" well if its a girl you HAVE to make the middle name Gertrude. That's what I expect." I think everyone forgot that this is my baby which equals my choice I have to sign the birth certificate with a name I pick. Therefore I don't have to do anything! Im insulted that everyone acts like its their choice if I am carrying and going thru the labor which I am( not them) then me and my fiance choose it. I wanted the middle name after my aunt or mother. Am I being selfish? I mean its my first baby...

    Nope.your baby.you choose. My bf nice says"are you sure you want that name,what about______".yes! I like that name and I'm not changing it.

    @excitedforbaby thanks that's what I think I mean its my first baby I have put tons of thought into choosing I already promised to name it after her son if its a boy and I wont back out but I draw the line at girl names that's my area.

    You aren't being selfish at all! I'm the same way. This is my first and unless someone else wants to squeeze this baby out of their vagina, I get the say so and how I want it.

    The same thing happened with me but hell no i named my baby whatever i wanted and in the end they didnt say anything

    I guess im just irritated everyones putting pressure on me about this. If I don't do it they are disappointed if I do do it then im disappointed and feel ripped off. I hate telling her no but im going to anyway

    @mshahir @ grissy_barria @ 1stWoodsbaby lol I told my mom about it and she was all" uh ur baby ur choice tell em all to back off because that's rude. U have to do all the hard stuff!" And that's why I love my mom lol its annoying to be pressured like this I would never tell anyone they have to name their baby after me! Is it really even an honor if I were to name it after her? Because it wouldn't be my idea or wades it would be because of pressure

    Even if it was my 2nd,3rd,or 4th.its my baby.if I don't like the name that you suggest then I won't be naming my baby that.

    It should be your decision, completely. We were going to name our baby after our dads if we had a boy, but only because we really liked the names. We're having a girl and now my mother in law thinks her name should be used. Umm NO.

    @SOSmommy why do people think its their right to say they want their names used?? Im sorry they think their names SHOULD be used but im saying no to everyone here on out. No one on my side said their names should be used but 3 ppl on his side have mentioned it multiple times. The only reason ill let a boy be a namesake is because my fiances dad was killed 12 years ago and its in his honor. @mshahir im sorry things are rough with your family! Granted I wont tell em to shut up im thinking it lol. However your right as adults we live our own lives now which means our decisions are OURS and no one else's!
