  • listen to your body. you will know it's too much for you or baby. it's perfectly healthy to exercise a lot, as long as you aren't doing MORE than what you were doing prepregnancy. but just listen to what you and baby are telling your body and you should be ok.
  • Okay thanks! Very helpful
  • @ncoughlin08 oh my that sounds so scary!!!
  • You definetely cannot work out the same as when you were not pregnant, that is ridiculous. You have to tone it down hun, especially if you are outdoors.

  • My drs and midwives recommend only half an hour of exercise a day,a whole hour if you are obese/overweight so you don't burn up the calories the baby needs. Also you should not be biking, it is on the list of unsafe exercises due to the risk of falling. A stationary bike is what they recommend instead.
  • @ExcitedForOctober agreed! She should take it easy. Doctors and research is what I base my info on, not my own logic.

Some days i bike for a whole 6 hours with bd and i feel great after. Im not obese i do have a small frame im just active when nice weather is here. If i have to slow down i dont even know what to do with myself. I get my walking excerise from walking to and from work which is 10 minutes from my house.

  • I say talk to the doc anyway, see what he has to say. Having to change your routine would be worth it if it affects the health of your baby. When in doubt, ask a professional, not a forum :)
  • When I was in high school one of my teachers was pregnant and she was running six miles a day all through her pregnancy!! She was always very active before and during and after her child but I still thought that was nuts..I could barely make it up a flight of stairs. lol
  • How about an elliptical is that ok?
  • Yea it just depends on what you did pre pegnancy. I asked my doc the same wuestions and he said 1 your body will tell you if its too much and 2 if you did it before you were pregnant you can do it now with the exception you are not going to do something very dangerous that is going to put excessive pressure or anything like that on baby. A lady at my gym was squatting over 200 lbs at 9 months pregnant, and her and baby are perfectly fine. But she body builded pre pregnancy so her body was used of brutal workouts...
  • @Jess510 whats a elliptical?
@HomeBirthAdvocate i do get very hungry! I always eat before i go and come home to eat some more carbs and healthy things to gain my nutrition i burned.

But i have a doc appointment on thurs so i will ask my doctor if im doing to much to stress baby.
  • @lalalorree kinda like a stantionary bike but your standing.
  • its fine if you stay hydrated and keep you calories and sugar levels stable.. if you start to feel out of breath .. light headed or get any pain or cramping you need to stop immediatly.. i excercise all the time sometimes a few times a day.. just make sure you stay hydrated and dont over heat.. thats the main idea.. and your supposed to rest every 30min-hour.. depending on your fittnes level..
