I had my baby girl Friday the 27th got 3 stitches...how long should it hurt for? And how long do they take to dissolve?

  • I had stitches and was told it takes 2 weeks for them to dissolve. Mine stopped hurting after a week.
  • Oh ok because its so uncomfortable I'm scared 2 sit the wrong way and it messes them up...they also told me to just wash up with water...do I have to wait till they dissolve to use soap again? Or just wait till I'm pain free?
  • Use a spray bottle to clean that area
  • Yea that's what I got ugh I hate it lol
  • U think I can throw some antibacterial none scented soap in the spray bottle?
  • I had my baby 5weeks ago and still have some stitches. My nerves are still healing. The pain lasted for over 2 weeks
  • I used oil of okay bar of soap right after I had my baby and I blot cleaned it. I tore under my Hood to my taint. With my first child my stitches were gone in a week
  • i had minimal stitches, i was sore for about a week and when i finally had the guts to really have a good look and see what was going on down there at 2 weeks they were all gone. you cant really mess them up as long as your gentle and keep everything clean. i wouldnt go putting anything but water on the area though, never know what such sensitive torn skin could react to.
  • K thanks proudmama and tinka1326..today is my 6th day and there finally startin 2 feel a lil better
  • They didn't give you that antibacterial foam thing? I forgot what it was called. I also put tuck's pads on my pad. It's mediated and it kept it moist so my stitches dissolve faster.
  • @Kat I has stitches with my son and within a week, a few had dissolved, but a piece was sticking out and stabbing me. They also recommended Tucks which have witch hazel in them, so I also bought some witch hazel in a bottle and put that in my peri bottle to rinse the area. It felt so much better.
  • This is a good question I had my baby on the 16th and have a stitch and I noticed today it's still there lol I guess it does take a while for them to dissolve
  • Ohh this is the part that scares me! Not the labour but the tearing and stitching aftee it ouchhhh :(

  • Ps... it was in the first aid section at Walmart for about $6.50...
