WORKING MOMMIES ???? REGARDING DAYCARE COSTS....

edited June 2011 in Just for Fun
So I'm one of the lucky ones that will have to go back to work after a few months (NOT):( But we are very fortunate that my mom will be taking care of our Julian while my hubby and I work otherwise I'd have to stay home because I don't trust anyone but my mom. My question is how much do you pay or will be paying for daycare or relatives to take care of your baby?? My mom doens't want to charge us anything but we will for sure be paying her as it is a full time job. Any input?? As I have no clue this is our first baby. Thanks!!!

  • Places I was looking at were charging like 600 a month! I'm in northern va though so idk if location determines rates. I have NO clue what I'm gonna do!
  • @Chuieycuzca22- Wow daycare is expensive, I never realized that it was so much. That's a car payment...lol
  • I run a home daycare and charge $110 a week for infants.
  • I run a home daycare and charge $110 a week for infants.
  • The cheapest place I found around here for an infant is $975 per month! I'm in a n dallas suburb.
  • @BabyKixALot WOW! that is more than my mortgage payment!
  • @babykixalot-wow, that is A LOT!!!!!!
@mommyo3soon2b4 - that sounds more reasonable:)

    Thanks ladies:)
  • Oh wow I pay 111$ for three days for my 2yo. Yay Kansas
  • I do an inhome daycare also but I charge 30$ a day per kid my sil charges 35$ a day but since its ur mom id say like 20$ a day or 100 a week is fair!
  • @Landynplus1momma - yeah that sounds fair to me..thanks for your input:)
  • It does depend on your location...also I try to work w the economy. But daycare providers do a lot of work and have a lot of out of pocket expenses...always try to remember that they care for your baby for a lot of hours per day. Home daycares are usually cheaper and also offer more one on one attention.
  • Your welcome hun that's what my sister paid me (she wouldn't let me do it for free) and it was fair for us both its nice u wanna help ur mom and pay her lord knows every penny helps these days :)
  • @Landynplus1momma - yeah I wouldn't be able to just leave my son there and not pay her anything that just wouldn't be right I know it's hard work and anywhere else I'd take him I'd have to pay as well...thanks:)
  • Hmm good post. I'm probably going to pay my mom n best friend some kinda money ffor watching my baby but i had no idea how much would be reasonable without breaking my bank.

  • My mom watched my babies.... with #1 she wouldn't accept money... so i made sure they at least had no expenses.... diapers wipe clothes everything down to baby wash and lotion plus food cups bowls spoons...... we planned for me to stay with #2 but economy tanked so i kept working and we saved all my income... except. $300 which i gave to my mom for my 2 boys... plus grocerys for the boys (and everything else too) worked out well for everyone :)
  • I live in Oklahoma and my son has been with different babysitters for almost 3 yrs. I have always payed $20 a day plus food. Now I am staying home and watching kids and will be charging the same.
  • I'm in California and the cheapest I found for an infant was $150 per week, but most places are $200 and up per week!
  • I pay $90 a week for my 2 year old and thats cheap. My fiancee will be home with our baby while I work and when I get home he'll leave for work and i'll have the kiddos. Hopefully I will only have to work till the end of the year
