vbac......help!!!!

edited June 2011 in Giving birth
Has anyone had a vbac? I'm really wanting to have a vaginal birth, I had a section 3 yrs ago and my Dr isn't very supportive of me having a vbac ONLY because I believe of coarse he ll get paid a lot more and its so much faster for the Dr. I just would like to have the chance to have a baby the real way! Anyone have any advice?

No its not that its quicker n he gets paid more. It's safer for u. Some docs will n a lot won't. Mine says once a c always a c.
  • well first off, what's the reason you had c sec with your last?
  • The first thing is that you need to make sure that the hospital youll deliver at allows vbacs, and also make sure your insurance will cover it.
  • I was induced 2 days before his due date, labored pain free pretty much for 6 hours and the baby never dropped. BUT...instead of him breaking my waters or giving me the option to wait a little longer, I felt rushed for time b/c he had a soccer game to go to so he talked me into a section.
  • I have great insurance but I need to ask the hospital if they do vbacs, I'm pretty sure they do. Thanks for the replies!!!
  • Oh ok, well it was not emergency? I had emergency c sec and I wanted to try vbac but then I considered the reasoning behind my c sec last time... I was too small for my 7 lb baby to fit through and then decided my little girl now is already measuring bigger so no way I wanna go through that scary your baby won't fit and is stuck not getting enough oxygen situation again so I decided c sec is best for me.... but sounds like to me that you may be able to do it... if I were you I would keep pushing my doc and getting more info out of him on why he thinks you shouldn't... if its what you truely want than I would say keep pushing for it
  • I'm a petite person so that may be something I need to take into consideration , I just believe God gave us women the ability to have children so why not do it the way He intended:)
  • I agree with that as well, I'm still scared of it however. I just want what's best for my baby if that means getting sliced open is what I should do than that's what I'm gonna do. I also feel that docs force c sec after c sec because of timing and money as well, but I guess we all just have diff situations to consider. Do what you feel is best for you and your bebe if you think you can do it then do it, just cuz your first didn't drop doesn't mean this baby won't, and 6 hours ain't enough time, some people labor for 24+ hours, so I think your doc rushed as well, unless they noticed stress on baby and it was that that made him rush things?
  • I wanted to have a vbac, I had a csection 6 yrs ago. My doctor dont believe in vbacs. And its hard to find a dr round where I live that allows em. I wish you the best of luck

You can look up hospitals in your area and call and find out what drs will do them.
  • My Dr says if I go into labor on my own he will let ne try if not it will be another c section
  • I hope my Dr will tell me that next appt
  • @bricesmommy08 I have 4 kids, this is my 5th. First 3 were vaginal delivery and my 4th was a c-section because she was breech. She is now 7 1/2 and my OB states I should have another c-section but I dont want to I did my research (I work for medical clinic) I asked a few nurses and I also asked a few L&D Dr's and they said it is very safe to try but of course there is also complications. When the uterus contracts the scared area has a chance of rupture. Get all your info and questions before you make a choice for yourself, I felt I was being pressured also but choose to try a deliver vag instead. Good luck girl!
  • That's the kind of info i was looking for!!! Thank you!
