Back on track Update believe update

edited June 2011 in Health
My wife is 22 weeks pregnant, This was an ivf pregnancy, try # 3. They used frozen embryos. she is pregnant with twin boys, she has placenta previa. She was admitted a week ago with heavy bleeding. She has had some contractions and was given indomethacin which had helped slow them down. Her cervix is long and closed. She is still experiencing some bleeding, her placenta was found to have a slight separation less than 2cm. We are staying positive and are certain there will be a great outcome. we are naming the boys, Ethan and Caleb. Our 13 year old son is going to make a great big brother.

We are still in the hospital, today is day 8, bleeding has slowed down, we are continuing on or path. doctors are not concerned she is in preterm labor, more of a twin/uterus irritability for the contractions. She was found to be anemic and is taking iron pills as well as colace and pre natal vitamins. She is still on a iv drip. She's eating well and drinking a lot of fluids.
Thanks for the well wishes and support. I know there will be a happy ending to this story.

  • Had a slight set back, after a full day of minimal bleeding and no contractions, she had a nice gush which caused her 2 contact. She was now put on magnesium >:p she is struggling with it big time.. I'm usually good with stress but this is rougher than I can handle.. Please pray 4 her. Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
  • I am praying for you and your wife, and of course the twins. Its rough being in the hospital that long, trust me I know!
  • Update. she is still on the magnesium, contractions have slowed greatly. Other than 2 clots she passed when she vomited this morning bleeding is minimal. 22 weeks 4 days, we need at least a few more weeks too give the babies a fighting chance. I Believe..I believe..I believe.. believe with me.. Anything is possible if you Believe..
  • Prayers to your family. Stay strong! I stand in belief that these babies will be born strong and healthy and after many more weeks inside to grow :) Praise God for the miracle that is and will be!
  • Keep the faith, I'm sure they will do grate
  • yay! everything will be great keep ur head up and keep being supportive of her
  • Praying! Sounds like you are doing a good job staying by her side and supporting her.
  • I loved her before I knew what love was. Before I knew how to love. Before I loved myself. Until forever I will always love her. Thanks all for the support. It means a lot 2 us. I'll continue 2 update..
  • Today was a good day, she was only spotting and felt decent on the magnesium, yesterday was a little rough, had a dr. who I felt was itching to cut her. He did not let her eat all day, she threw up early sure to the magnesium and passed 2 clots. He came in and said no food. His reasoning was she might need emergency surgery. He told me anesthesia would be happy she didn't eat...wtf..after the while day of no bleeding he let her eat diner. She could not even eat because she was so weak. A little while after she wiped and there was little blood, came back in and said no more food.... I had to contain myself from not knocking him out. When the new dr came in the morning she let her eat and take her vitamins.
She is doing real well right now.. Thanks again for all the support and prayers. She is 22 weeks 5 days now and we know she will make it to at least 28. Believe and your more than halfway there...
  • You guys can make it!! Just have to believe!! How us Your oldest son holding up?

PS I love the name Ethan :)
  • I urge u to stand ur ground, my sis in law was hospitalized for incompetent cervix early on and doctors kept telling her to abort..she stood her ground and held on to baby until 26weeks, he is now a healthy happy and super smart 3 year old...good luck to u guys :)
  • our 13 year old is holding up well, he had been staying with his aunt and grandparents, while I stay with my wife in the hospital, I pick him up from school and we go to hang with mommy. Today was his national junior honor society ceremony, wifey was crying because she could not go, I went while my sister stood in the hospital. I video taped it for her and she was happy..
Thanks again everyone... I feel so much positive energy from doing this. This is a great forum with great positivity..
  • I was in preterm labor w my twins at 22 wks, I also *had placenta previa. They stopped my labor. Ive had the mag. It's awful! They didn't keep me long because I only spotted from the previa. I was sent home w instructions. Ask your dr about being sent home w the Iron, pre-nates, and procardia, highest dose 4-5x's a day. Strict bed rest and twice weekly apptmnts w your OB. Im now 36 wks hoping these babies come out soon! My placenta previa cleared away and I can even have a vaginal birth. I will have you in my prayers. Don't let a Dr bully you or make you fearful. She should be given a fluid only diet on the mag maybe* some toast. I have an excellent Dr, he has been amazing through my pregnancy. Some residents are obnoxious. Id have your personal OB on speed dial. Im praying so hard for you and I know you're going to make it! Shoot for 32 wks. Ill be praying for that. God is good.
  • Oh and I was dilated and effaced then too. You can do this!! Im rooting for your family!

  • Had a tough day today, she passed a few clots and bled a bit. Thank god that other dr was not here, or there would have been problems... The dr on call said that the only way he was taking them out is if she read hemorrhaging.. She started 2 have some contractions, which they are calling irritability, she is still bleeding a bit, it had slowed down but still happening, they lowered her magnesium dosage and she seems more of herself, only the contacting have stared again. They did a bedside sono and the babies heartbeats are just fine. Tomorrow she makes 23 weeks. 9 more to go, I thinks she's going to stabilize by 24 and they will let her go until we have to come back at 32 to give birth vaganilly. Thanks again for all the support and prayers... Keep them coming...
