hip pain?

edited June 2011 in Second Trimester
So I used the lovely search on pregly and got nothing pertaining to hip pain..googled and got round ligament pain which seems to focus on pelvic and abdominal area. Or hip pain as a third trimester deal. Everything else dealt with hip pain sleeping/laying in bed. Boo!
Ill be 19 weeks tomorrow and my left hip started hurting today. Its been an all day thing and still happening. It hurts when I stand, walk or sit. I discovered if I sit back on the couch with my left leg extended NO PAIN! unfortunately this doesn't work when sitting in a chair with my leg on the foot stool.

Anyone ese have or had this?? :-??

  • I have hip pain on my right side every morning! I think I might lay on that side the majority of the night, so that might be why. I also know that pain happens in the hips because your ligaments loosen and your hips get wider...it sucks tho!
  • Sorry you're hurting, friend! I have a little pain on one side but I think it's from a cyst or a small fibroid. Grrr!
  • @ashley_smashley it does suck! I know every pregnancy is different but does this one have to be soo much different than my first two? Bah! Lol
  • So far this pregnancy (my first) has been pretty easy...hopefully my next ones are the same...but knowing my luck they will probably be completely different! Boo! 8-|
  • my hips hurt all the time now but its cause im so close already!! you should ask your doctor about a support belt
  • @proudmommy8789 thank you ill mention/ask
  • @mrs_shu wow aside from what trimester you are on I'm having the same problems... I find that laying on that side with a heating pad for a little bit makes the pain subside for a bit.. also try elevating the side that hurts with a pillow and sleeping with a pillow between your legs at night. M midwife said sit in a warm bath and that should help, I would totally do that if I could but I have no stopper for my tub and I can't afford to buy one!
  • @Proudmommy8789 sorry if this a dumb question but..... what is this support belt u speak of?
  • last time i went to l&d the doctor there told me to ask my doctor about getting a support belt that lefts the belly a bit and takes some pressure off your back and hips. but i didnt get one cause im almost done.
  • @kaikojenie I'm gonna try the heating pad tonight thanks for that suggestion. Hubby said the same thing but he's not pregnant so I ignored him lol
  • @Proudmommy8789 oh I see :-) thanks.
  • I am 22wks and have had such bad hip pain it has put me in tears. The dr said that there isnt really much you can do for it...she said try heat, and body pillow. She also said I can take tylenol pm to help me sleep, cause it keeps me up nice. Hope you feel better.
  • I have a previous low back/SI joint injury and my therapist friends (PT's) say they can help a lot.
  • The pregnancy si belts that is...
  • Yes.it sucks ass. On some nights I toss and turn because both hips hurt every ten minutes :( BOOOOOO!
  • I was told the preggo belts help allieviate several problems. My doc recommened one but I couldn't afford it
  • I am almost 16wks and have been having hip pains since 9 wks. And has been getting worse. Sometimes it'll hit me really bad in the middle of a wrk day. I think I'm going to try a chiropractor after a while:

Oh I get horrible hip pain but mainly my right hip but all my pain is on my right side because where she likes to be most of the time. But mines usually hurt me when I'm on my feet too much or laying on that side too much and it makes me want to cry sometimes but its not to bad the belt helps sometimes
  • I hav really bad hip pain but then again my hips were bad before being pregs as i will b walking and they either lock up or hurt that bad i have too limp and rest .. TMI ( lastnight during intercourse my right one locked and i had too get off qwik and let it flex then got back too it lol )
  • @excitedforbaby I so understand what you're saying. I'm so sick of the lack of sleep due to hip pains. It's both sides all nite and then into morning. I'm super uncomfortable though and only feel half decent when I'm laying down, but when I lay down the nip pain occurs :(
