Lexi Renae

edited June 2011 in Babies
My baby girl was born 4 weeks early and went home after 24 hours. :-)

Is it ok for newborns to sleep on their side? She won't stay on her back when I lay her down to sleep.

  • is Lexi Renae her name? i LOVE it!!!
  • Ah what a pretty name! They are supposed to sleep on their backs bit if she moves herself there isnt much you can do! Congratulations!
  • Put like 2 towels rolled up or something next to her that way she can lay on her side but cant roll on to her stomach.
  • @librababii Thank you :-)

    @littlenat86 Thank you :-)

@ready4gurl I didn't think you were supposed to put anything in the crib with them. :-/
  • No its not advised to put anything in with them. If she could roll over to her tummy already she would be a very advanced baby!!
  • They told me not to lay my baby on her side or belly just her back it lessens the risk for SIDS and there shouldn't be anything inside the crib or bassinet well that's what my pediatrician told me last week my baby is only 17 days old and Congrats to you and baby what a beautiful name :)
  • @littlenat86 I'm very iffy on anything that isn't advised since she was early and is very little. Only 5lbs. She hasn't quite made it to her belly yet lol. She gets stuck on her side because she sticks her arms out in front of her and bends her legs a little so they prop her up lol.
  • @grissy_barria I don't lay her on her side, I'll put her down, and check on her later and she will have rolled onto it. lol. Lexi's only 11 days. :-) Congrats to you too, and thank you!
  • Oh wow she is a active little one lol my baby has only rolled twice on her side when I change her pamper lol i got scared well they do sell those things u can insert inside the crib at babies r us that hold them in place u should ask your doctor if that's ok to place in her crib so that she stays on her back
  • @grissy_barria I'll look into that. :-) Thank you.
  • Congrats on ur baby she's precious!! Abd I love her headband!!
  • Your welcome :)
  • Both my kids slept on their sides the wouldn't sleep any other way. I had a side positioner for them made for sleeping was below armpits down to bum kept them from rolling to back or tummy. That was 10 and 11 yrs ago but if I put them on their backs they'd scream until I moved them
  • @rachdb Thank you! Idk if you're having a girl but if you're interested I got my bows from http://www.facebook.com/pages/Girly-Girl-Boutique/175584242494149 :-)

@camommy That's cool that they make something specifically for that. Someone had told me that if they fuss when they're on their back but not on their side it may be because they have gas and need burped. I tried burping her last night and it seemed to help her not want to sleep on her side, but she somehow always ends up that way anyway haha.

My baby sleeps on her side too. We can flip her to her back as much as we want but she's going back to her side. Some babies just do it

@xxxsamanthalee I just liked your page. Im on my phone right now so ill look at your page later when I get to my com
  • @kayleigh27 its just my page, but I adore their bows. If you decide to order the person who runs the page is very helpful and friendly. :-)
  • In the NICU they had two towels rolled up on either side of my son bc they had him sleeping on his side. And now that's how he always sleeps
  • I agree don't put towels or anything on her side unless u r up watching her to make sure she doesn't roll over on it....congrats glad she could go home so soon love her name
  • congrats! all 3 of my babies sleep/slept on there side as long as u alternate side$ I think its a great way to avoid flat spots on bubs head
  • @praying4our3rd they had him in our room like that too without monitors. They suggested it to us for home if he wanted to sleep on his side just to keep them down by chest and not right by his face.
  • Congrats hun! :)

  • @Mommy2IsaiahNGiselle I tried swaddling her and she just kicks at it and fusses until she isn't swaddled anymore. :-/ haha.
I went into preterm labor at 24 weeks and they stopped it.
Then again at 34 weeks and it stopped on it's own.
Good luck with your little one and the preterm labor stuff! I hope all goes well. <3
  • @praying4our3rd I only did it twice I hated putting him in his crib for the first while.. Someone told me to get a sleep positioner but they had all been recalled due to suffocation
