I also worked from 16 paid taxes, got put on bed rest at 19 while pregnant cuz I was working TWO 40 hour a week jobs plus some side jobs when I got called in. my husband works his ass off and we still cant make rent now cuz im.back on bedrest for this pregnancy. You need to specify who the "losers" are because your.comment was very offensive to me.
I am all for it. People have to pass a drug test for jobs so why not to get n welfare. Florida has already passed this law and i hope Tn does too. Yes i get government assistance and will gladly tale a drug test if necessary.
@myasmommy2009: i think if you have proof the meds were prescribed to you then you ar fine. All doctors here keep a copy of the prescription and so do most pharmacies. I have to take percocet for my back pain after giving birth to my son.
The losers are the ignorant ones who ASSUME the govt owes them their foidstamps or tanf. The people who have their nails done, make up caked on, new clothes, expensive things, and so on..
I actually need help, I'm still waiting for medicaid and haven't seen a doc in 10 weeks. I STAY with friends, my bf works, but I don't mention him. He pays his taxes and child support. Sometimes everyone in the house eats together, but dammit. I don't like half the shit they make, and I don't have money to go get what I want. I want to work, I've applied everywhere, had a couple of interviews, I stoped applying since I'm obviously pregnant. Nor do I have the funds (public transportation ) to get anywhere, and walking somewhere decent is hell. .. maybe I vented a little. But the losers are obvious.
That's really good b/c alot of ppl I know get food stamps and assistance just to buy drugs they sell there foodstamps to buy some weed that's some bull... cuz the kids r the ones losing out o-+
i think it's a wonderful idea. I think it should be random drug tests so that they don't have time to "Get Clean". Because it would just defeat the purpose. I can guarantee that more than 75% of the people in the area I live in would not get any benefits. I have a cousin that is one such person and she disgusts me. My grandmother and I were discussing this saying that it's a good idea. My cousin overheard and said that it would be a bad idea and unfair. I told her it was only because she'd probably end up in jail yet again...She went on to tell me that some place she worked at had a drug test at the same time every month so people knew when to "Clean up". I think it's unfair to the people that really need these things and to the children. This should have happened a long time ago.
If they want to do that, how about changing the requirements so people can go to college while they're on it. They won't give you food stamps here if you're going to college.
I'm all for it! If I have to get tested to get a job then they should be tested to get things for free!! The only thing I don't like that I've heard so far is that the tax payers will be paying for the testing....I think they should be responsible for the costs of it. And I'm wondering if its random or not...I think they should randomly test everyone this way you'll get more accurate results! I also think there should be a strict certain amount of time that u can be on it, mayb if everyone got a cut off date they'd actually get a job!
I dont think its a good idea. True drug addicts know how to beat a drug test. And if they fail what? If their assistance is cut, they'll be breaking into my car to steal my tv.... And what about the kids that will go hungry or become homeless?
No, I was trying for a job up until now, i'm still applying though still no calls, my boyfriend has also been trying to get another job with no luck. Not everyone on fed assistance just lays around not trying to work.
I think u should also have to prove u r trying to better yourself...not just using it as a free ride. I understand some ppl fall on hard times-losing a job or a young mother, but it irritates me that some ppl get it and abuse it.
Trying*...darn phone! Ur not using it and just sitting around. U are applying for jobs, proving that u r trying to better self...that is what fed assistance should b for. I hope things turn around for u and u get a call soon
Yeah, trying to prove you're trying to better yourself is hard though. I can't even enroll in college if I want to continue to eat because if I do, they will not give me the assistance anymore. And you can't,rely on getting money from school because that money only comes once ever few months and sometimes isn't very much either.
I am all for it, except my one concern is for the kids.. something needs to be done about that situation.. So the parents are druggies who clearly do not deserve the assistance but their are innocent children in these places that do deserve it. the lack of foster homes makes it hard to find placement for these kids so they are stuck.. So what can be done in those situations?
I agree with @twinkiesmom. I think its a good idea but tons of people are working jobs right now still using drugs bcuz unless your on probation doing a drug test they don't watch you. It's easy to use someone else's pee to bet the test, there's even stores that sell fake pee for drug tests. Unless they do random ones or pat you down and watch you it isn't going to do much I don't think
I say Its about time....cuz if we need to be drug tested for our jobs to help support those on welfare then y shouldn't they be drug tested to receive it...this is a good thing ....
if drugs are prescribed i dont see the problem. u just have to bring ur script in. also nothing is wrong with being on thee system its there to help. use it if u need it if u dont drop it. ive been on it a few different times when i was down and out and needed the help stopped it when things got better for me. like i said before im going to be looking into WIC this month and if i quilify for FS then im jumping on it. i got taken offa work my husbands the only income and hes just a specialist in the army. were a family of 4 going on 5 we need some help. and i will gladly pee in a cup for that help may i add

If I have to be tested to work hard and make money why shouldn't ppl be tested to get free money and other benefits. If they need welfare to live I agree they deserve welfare but I don't agree with those who use it for drugs.
Completely agree that it should be done! If you bust your ass working and can be tested and don't get insurance and all the perks from your job...then anyone being given government assistance should. I just think the system is pretty backwards ....
