Maternity Clothes...?!?!

So many people tell me that I shouldn't already be in a complete maternity wardrobe...but I'm huge.
I've already gained 21 pounds but the doctor says that my size is okay. Is it really too early for me to be in all maternity clothes?

  • No.I stated wearing them at 20w if you can't fit anything then go get them.no one can tell you if you're too little to start maternity clothes
  • if your 27 weeks yes you should be in maturnity clothes!! That means you are close to 75 % done with the pregnancy. Dont worry about what others say!!
  • Eff what they say! Wear what you want!

  • Ya i agree with @caroline8_p eff them! I have been wearing maternity pants for a few weeks now..and I wish that i had started wearing them sooner! They are amazing! lol.
  • Why would people say that? Some people get to wear them and some people dont...i didnt fit maternity at all w/ my son even though i gain 60 lbs...but i was still small? And now w/ this i can fit some @ 26 wks... if you fit them and your comfortable it doesnt matter if you already wearing them, like you said your dr says it fine. :)
  • Lol I started wearing them at 16 weeks way more comfortable
  • Screw what others say. I have only gained 20 pounds and have been I'm full maternity clothes for a while now. Why because they are comfy. This is your body and your pregnancy who gives a rats ash what anybody else thinks.

  • I've been wearing maternity jeans, here and there, since about 20 weeks, when I started growing out of everything else...not because I had to, but because they were more comfortable. I couldn't stand jeans' buttons pushing into the lower part of my stomach. Recently, I've started growing out of those maternity clothes (luckily, I only bought a few outfits) and money is running a little tight, so I was on the hunt for some bigger clothes that a few friends' might have that they didn't use. That's what started the whole thing, "You're not big enough for maternity clothes" and "You're not far enough along for all of that, are you?" UGH!!! All the questions, because I asked a few friends for a few outfits that they weren't wearing...
The doctor says I'm measuring good and that my weight-gain has been great, so I'm not too concerned with what they say; I just think it's lame that girls I have been friends with for years (and swapped clothes with for years) don't want to lend me clothes, because I'm "too small" for them....UGH!
  • I was in a full blown maternity wardrobe at around 16 wks. I am currently 26 wks and have only gained 3 lbs. My belly just got big fast and normal clothes weren't comfortable anymore. I wouldn't worry about what others say.
  • I work at motherhood maternity. Weave women coming in who r only 10 weeks to buy clothes, and some who aren't even pregnant, so Idk what the big deal is. It's all bout comfort. If reg clothes aren't comfy, don't wear them. Hell, I'll be wearing my belly band pants well after. Lil extra support, and its always nice to know my butt isn't hanging out when I bend over, lol!! Besides, our stuff is so cute, u can't always tell its maternity.
  • I had a friend who started wearing maternity clothes the instant she got a positive test. Like at 6 weeks! Now that's too early. At 27 weeks, and going off your profile pic, you should definitely be in them. I never get big enough for full on maternity clothes. Just the shirts, lol. I'm super jealous of people who get to wear them!
  • I've been wearing the pants for a couple weeks. I hated the tight feeling on my stomach and the button pushing on me.
  • @charlotteb That's exactly my point; some maternity clothes are just too freakin' cute to pass up.! I wear more maternity pants than anything. I have a bunch of the "baby doll tops" that define my belly really well and I like them because they're long enough to cover my tummy and the band on my pants (: and I LOVE knowing that my butt's not hanging out when I bend over...Goodness knows I got one and I'd appreciate it if the whole world didn't see it :p

@laura536 I started getting a pretty defined belly at just over 16 weeks...I mean, to the point people were asking if I was having twins. I was hurt by their comments, but I'm completely in love with my bump ♥

@Jess510 I completely agree; that's the main reason I started wearing maternity jeans.! I absolutely HATED the button of my regular jeans pushing in on the bottom of my stomach. I was always afraid that it was uncomfortable for the baby.
  • Im moving to a nudist colony problem solved. Want to join me?! Lol!
  • @mandac10 bhaha(: As miserable as clothes make me, in general...? SURE! I'm right there with you :p
  • I'm trying not to buy any. Sundresses and sandals all summer long!
  • @blueberrysmom I ♥ sundresses.! Unfortunately, I'm the whitest shade of white that's even possible :p Usually, I lay out and wear shorts and tank-tops to get my tan --- not this year.! I have a few of the "long" shirts that I wear with tights, which I absolutely love, but I don't show off my legs unless it's necessary --- especially with all of the swelling and busted blood vessels that are showing themselves.

    flip-flops = ♥, though and I can't stop wearing them.!
  • Im gonna open the first prego nudist colony! Free to all pregly members not including airfare!
  • @mandac10 haha.! Nakie Preggies everywhere! Oh, my! I needed something to make me laugh; this did it.! :p
  • Not gonna lie...I love my maternity shorts and I'm almost 11 weeks. My pants and shorts were just a little snug as I have been bloated and slightly rounding where my uterus is. I personally would tell someone who tried to say I shouldn't be wearing them to kiss it. Between the heat, the nausea, and the headaches...I wanna be somewhat comfortable and wearing snug clothing is not comfortable to me. I say pregos should be comfortable, no matter how far along they are! If all else fails...we can go to @mandac10 's prego nudist colony. haha
