No health insurance!

I no longer have health insurance from my previous job and have been looking everyone for a company that can give me maternity coverage but found none online. I applied for government assisted health insurance a week ago, but it will be a process of a few weeks to find out if they accept me. (And they may not, they've denied me before.) I really want to get in for my first doctors visit but I'm worried about the cost. Would it be better for me to just wait for AHCCCS?

  • Try going to your local social services an try applying for medicade
  • I went to planned parenthood and applied online, I am waiting for a letter in the mail to tell me when I have an appointment to turn in paperwork but it hasn't come. It will within a few days I'm sure, but it's the processes of waiting until they go over my paperwork, (they might find out they need more I have to bring in), then all to find out I make too much money or something else preventing me from getting aid.
  • In most states if you are pregnant and are not getting insurance from ur job the state will provide u with insurance no matter what ur income is. And they may also give u temp insurance while they are processing ur paperwork.
  • Hearing that makes me feel sooo much better. (Something I probably should have known already!) I guess I'll do everything I can to get everything moving as quickly as possible. Thanks!
  • Here, I can go to my local health dept and they help me get a temporary 30 days emergency Medicaid card until you figure out everything with the actual Medicaid office.
  • Misspregger6989 what state do u live in if u don't mind me asking?
  • If u go online you can look on ur states website probably where u applied for help and they should be able to tell u if they offer the temp insurance. Look for something called presumptive medicaid.
  • Just Google Medicaid income guidelines in AZ and you should find a website to tell u right away if you qualify. I'm in NY and I did that I filled out a pre app online and it told me right away all the things I may qualify for. Good luck!! P.s. health insurance sucks we should all be able to get care no matter what without paying a fortune!!
  • You should qualify for pregnant medicaid, I have insurance with my job plus Medicaid, which covers everything my insurance doesn't cover. Which helps out a lot.
  • With my first child it took a few months to get tittle 19 (medicaid ) I couldn't find my birth certificate after the move. But they back date for 3 months so they will cover your visits. Just make sure they process those first doc. Visits again or 2 years later you will be getting the bills sent to u again. And its a real hassle to get those taken off ur credit report.
