edited June 2011 in Third Trimester
Ok if you have read one of my old threads I said how my Dr was going off my lmp which makes my due date 6-17 (41 wks as of today). My first us at a clinic, which thought I'd be 7wks gave me a vaginal us after finding no baby over belly and measured the sac at 5wks giving me a due date of 7-4. Well at my appt today the Dr said they were scheduling me for induction on Mon. which I didn't want but basically she said doesn't want me to go too far overdue. Than she checked my cervix and my lil girl who's been head down for a month is breech(butt down, feet by face) so they sent me for a us to confirm.(she said we could try to move baby but it can cause fetal death) Now they cancelled my induction and scheduled a csection for Mon. The tech confirmed breech but measurements edd said july 3(38wks). I called my Dr and tried to convince her to wait for csection(I'm deathly afraid) but no luck. She said if I go into labor u can still try natural(like my first two kids) but If baby is still breech will still do c section. I never wanted give induced or pain meds and for sure c section...pls help.

  • Wow- that's a tough one. I'm so sorry. If they confirmed that your baby is breech, you may very well end up needing a c-sec anyway, even if you try for a vag birth first. The good thing about it being scheduled is that you'll be more prepared & be able to have your partner present for sure; wheras, if you get an emergency c-sec he might not be able to attend if there isn't enough time.
As far as how far along you are... that is just as tough. You could ask her to meet you in the middle as long as baby is doing well & your placenta & amniotic fluid is in good supply. I know most doctors don't want you to go past 42 weeks these days, but the LMP isn't 100% because women can ovulate at different times.
In the end, no matter how or when baby comes out, it's always most important that he/she is healthy. THAT is what makes it a successful birth. I hope this helps at least a little & good luck! :)
  • It's awfully late to get the baby to turn and you do not want to give birth to a breech baby vaginally...OUCH!! Maybe start a thread and ask for positive only c-section stories? It's routine surgery and it's not as scary as it sounds like. Good luck!
  • @laura536 thanks, my best friend had two so im gonna have to call her up and get all the info :p
@vette_devil she's the first girl (i have two boys) so her being ok is very important to me. Thanks :)
@gatorbob my doctor Is very sweet and was all for no drugs and being natural but now cause of me being "overdue" she thinks it would be better for baby

she also thinks the babys head is big cause she said my cervix is super soft and
since her head won't stay in my pelvic bone. if the babys head was down id prolly be dilated.
  • Damn girl that sucks big time good luck Monday is all I can say

  • I am so sorry. Ask yourself if you don't go with the medical professionals suggestions and something (god forbid) happens then that would be awful. 38 weeks is still considered full term and if it is safer for baby and u then I would really think about that . Either way, you have to follow your own prayers and thoughts and motherly instinct. I am sending my prayers out now that mother and baby are healthy and everything works out for the best. I know that if it was happening to me, I would go with the c-section. But I love my ob /gyn and trust her medical judgement. I am not sure how your pregnancy has been with your Dr and if they have always been supportive and have your baby and yours best interest at heart. I have definitely heard some horror stories about some doctors. Keep updating is!

@ourbaby3 she's a new doctor to me (i just moved to the area). she's very sweet tho. thanks so much. very scared but starting to feel better.
@gatorbob your right. im so excited to meet my lil girl. her 3 and 4 yr old brothers ask everyday about her coming :p (another downside to the csection)
  • I think you should go with your doctors suggestions. Better be safe than sorry!

  • Im scheduled for a c section on Monday. This will be my second. Its not as bad as it seems. I was not prepared with my last and my son was transverse so it ended in an emergency c section. My first two were vag. Recovery was quick and easy after my c section. I had no issues. First time up is the hardes but you make it through and I have a low tolerance for pain..lol. Im sending you good thoughts...try not to stress.
  • @mommiesandra thanks :) our babies will be born on same day! what time is yours? I'm gonna call my Dr and ask if baby is head down if they can induce me.
  • just keep it in prayer mama. the baby could flip before Monday and that would be a blessing but if not and you trust your doc go with her advice. the risk you run wit going to far past your due date is also cerebral palsy. due date by lmp could be two weeks off either way I wouldn't push it any further. Good luck and may Gods will work out for the best for you and your lil princess. sending prayers n positive energy to u. :)
