words of courage

edited January 2011 in Pregnant
I'm 23 and I'm 13 weeks pregnant with my first baby. I'm currently a first year in a small grad school masters program for marriage and family therapy and I'm so scared to tell my director and my professors because I'm not married and I'm just starting to see clients. I could really use some words of courage to tell them already before I start showing.

  • Just start off by telling the people that matter like your boss/supervisor
  • Agree with Kayleigh. I'm 21, 12 weeks not married and a student intern and haven't told my job for the same reasons. I did end up telling my boss tho. At my weekly meeting 3 days after finding out i was preggo she said " I am sooo glad u are waiting to have kids." When I first told her a couple of weeks later the first thing she asked me if I was happy. As soon as I told her yes she has been supportive. I have not told the rest of my office but I am glad that I told my boss, like I am suggesting u do. It has been a weight off my shoulders. When you tell ur boss just tell them u have good news and ur expecting, when ur due and that ur soooooo excited (assuming u are) lol then they will know how to react to u.
  • Let me start with the fact I told my boss at 6 wks, because my husband an I work at the same place and he was not quiet about it and I was obviously showing by 6 weeks. With that said is there a reason to tell them. They will figure it out soon enough but you don't have to tell them on any time line other than your own.
