I am! I've had my times of inactivity too, but I love my faith too much to let it go. I grew up in Utah, moved to Kansas with my husband after we got married and now we live in Pennsylvania. We're not typical Mormons either. We're a bit more liberal, ok A LOT more liberal than others in the church but that's what I LOVE about our church, everyone's different and come from different places in life.
@musicmomma hello!!! I'm here in Idaho where we had a great ward but just moved... we'll be visiting our new one this week... its been a while, bit hopefully they'll love us as much as the others did... we figured we'd just put it all out on the table and my hubby will show his tatted sleeves. I have hot pink in my hair too so... take us as we are! Lol our old bishop was somewhat of a rebel back in the day and we loved it... it was what my hubby needed to get back into the swing of things... now we've been out due to tough times & I'm hoping & praying we feel welcome or my hubby will never want to go back!!
I do love that we are loved for our differences even thought ppl may not agree. ...now in Utah I didn't like the ppl! They weren't very open or friendly... u seem different though, thank goodness!! lol
Hahahhaha! Yeah my family was DEFINITELY not a typical "Utah" family. Don't get me wrong, I loved growing up there and I love the state but I will NEVER move back there! Hahaha. I almost dread telling people I'm from Utah cause they all go"ooohhhhh". We all know what that means. But once they get to know me they all say, and you're MORMON?! My husband and I are the same with the whole, "we are who we are, take it or leave it." I was inactive for years because of our struggle with infertility. I mean we were married six years and no kids.. that's unheard of for us Mormons! And the women of our old ward just didn't seem to get it. The ward rocked but some of the women didn't. Since I didn't have kids I must not know what I'm talking about or have any good or sound advice when it came to kids when really I taught at a high end preschool that had you take courses on child development and everything. Some people just don't get it. So that was a HUGE struggle for us. We tried for over five years and all the sudden we moved to Pennsylvania and BAM! Baby on board! So don't give up! Lots of prayers for you and your honey and plenty of baby dust! Feel free to message me anytime! I love connecting with new people!
My husband is LDS but not so active. He does to church every once in awhile when he can (sometimes he works weekends) he has the missionaries over every so often and I've made them dinner a couple of times. but he does drink every once in awhile.. im catholic and we sometimes fight about our religions but im letting him bless our daughter this sunday
@kayleigh27 I could see where arguments start... we even get in to them now bc I'm soooooo open. Lol but that's great that you can stay strong in your faith but also support his. So important! So I thank you for that will u guys raise the kids as both? I see no problem with letting children decide when they're old enough but that's just me. I am thankful I wasn't raised in the church bc I wasn't ready to appreciate it (and accept god) as I do now.
@mrsrocketfield1221 im not really strong in my church either. I haven't been to a catholic church in quite a number of years. Thats pretty much the reason why im letting him raise her in the mormon religion. I have thought about converting but i dont want to make a rushed decision just to make him and his family happy and then totally regret it later. But yeah he has his beliefs and I.have mine and sometimes it works for us and sometimes it doesn't like when I want to put a cross on a wall or put a little statue of an angel out during christmas. But we do have the same morals and we were both pure when we got married and I want our kids to grow up with the same morals. I have gone to church with him sometimes in the passed and have attended a couple of the womens classes
@musicmomma ugh... that IS unheard of for mormons!! lol but how sad that such "people of god" can act and think like that. luckily, i understand that it is not the religion, but the difference in personality that we are all given. lol so glad that you did get your blessing!! God i pray that we don't have to wait as long though... since i'm already 30 and he's 34. lol ;-) maybe with his new job i'll go visit and the baby making will come with the change of territory too?!?! lol
@mommyfor3 hi!! i love your counters!! may i ask why you're inactive? i like to hear everyone's stories... many of us have them.
@Surprise_Due8_28 hello sister, good to see some LDS ladies on here!
@OregonMama i think that it all depends on where you are and who's around you. i HATED utah mormons (no offense to my friends on here who rock) but back home in MA, and my first ward here in Idaho were amazing and totally expected and loved us!! i guess like with life in general, and other churches... there are always differences in people and places. Our bishop that we just moved away from was a renegade in his day and i just adore him!
@kayleigh27 i wish you lived near me and i would go to relief society and things with you! we just started going to sacrament again but i haven't been to the classes... it's been a while, it would be neat to bring ya with me. lol i must say, although you are not strong in the catholic church i admire your willingness to open up to the LDS church. It really is great. I took discussions for a long time before i decided to join, and i joined on MY terms. i was not pushed or rushed and i think it was beautiful that way. my husband actually wanted NOTHING to do with me joining... bc so many do for the wrong reasons. So, he made it harder for me... and that's how i knew i wanted it. ;-) i had some great missionaries in my life that helped that to happen. it takes a special one, and endless prayers, to really want to get baptized. so if anything i would say to take your time... but that's really neat that you have wanted to take the first steps in learning. i still put up angels and anything i want. a huge thing for us is that we stay true to ourselves and don't change who we are. (that happened to his first wife, along with some other things.... i will mature but i will never change who i am and who he's fallen in love with. and i wouldnt want him to change either). it's great to have the same moral ground to stand on though... that's more than most!!
@momof22be & @ace_baber_3 so in all of lifes crazy mess... how are you ladies doing now? in life, i ask, and i guess i'd like to know how you feel about church as well? ;;) it's so so hard not to get bitter at the big guy when tough times happen...
@oregonmama in mass our church was within 10 mins (when i lived near boston) but in western ma where my family is.... 45 minutes to go to ANY church. no clue where there's even a temple! but, do you guys ever go to just normal church/sacrament? bc not everyone can get in to temples... lol
while my mom and cousin were visiting i really wanted to take them to my church, just so they could see it's not some crazy church who doesn't allow outside family in... they didn't have skirts/dresses SO we ALL (me, mom, my cousin, the girls, and my mother in law) went to church in pants. WHO CARES!! i don't think it shold matter, although i know they'd prefer no pants. but, i didnt want them to feel out of place. and no one cared.... just as it should be of course
-my mom has read lots of negative things about the religion so it's been tough. she thought that, bc my family wasnt lds, that i'd be "taken" from them and pushed away from them. NEVER would i join a church who did that! NEVER. so i am hoping that in taking her, she realized that some of what she thought was untrue!
So I am having mixed emotions about this discussion topic. Lol. Is it about loving it or hating it? Haha. Or somewhere in between? I absolutely love being LDS. When we lost our daughter, I dont think we could have gotten through everything without being sealed for time and all eternity a month later. The temple was a wonderful experience and knowing I get to see her again and raise her is a HUGE help!!! It helped with our grieving process. :O)
@surprise_due8_28 lol it wasn't to be negative... I actually started it to see if there were any LDS pregly ladies after coming home from a missionary discussion (that's the one where I mentioned getting on there butts for watching tv ). But that experience made me thankful and I felt as if it strengthened me bc we've fallen away a bit. We believe, just have had a foot over the fence... I didn't think I was being negative though, just trying to relate. Were not typical Mormons and I think that in a way, it helps others to relate. I did have a somewhat negative experience while looking into the church in Utah... but I still went and I still listened and when I went home I had an amazing ward! Which is where I got baptized a yr 1/2 ago.
But id love to have people that I can talk to about church... whether it be good or bad times. I miss the spirit lately and I know its bc my husband struggles during tough times when it comes to the church. It shouldn't, bit it does, and of course it effects me too. So I hope I didn't offend you. Being in the church really helped me a lot when I moved away and we were having tough times. I absolutely love the thought of an eternal family and hope that some day we can be one...
Yeah my husband has told me that he's not going to pressure it and knows that if I really want to do it then i'll do it on my own. But he has expressed his wishes to be sealed in a temple with me on quite a number of occasions
I was brought up LDS. I haven't gone to church in almost five years though. Growing up I thought church was such a bore but I sure loved going to church functions, mutual, and girl's camp!
@carrielee I didn't grow up in the church bit they asked us to speak at girls camp... it was awesome! What a great thing to have, I hope I can be a young womens leader/teacher in the future and experience it -can I ask why you haven't gone?
@mrsrocketfield1221 I haven't gone because the ward I was in made me very uncomfortable. They weren't exactly friendly and welcoming to my non-member husband when I brought him along to a church luau either. A few other reasons which put me off that I won't explain because I really don't want to bash. I do miss church from time to time though.
I'm Mormon and very active. I have a calling, do my visiting teaching and love going to church. I've had my moments of being inactive but never stopped believing. And I'm in PA, not UT.
I'm doing ok just so tired all the time I feel so worn out and I still believe in the lds religion I always have I'm just not active and I have my personal reasons for that like I watch porn with hubby I drink coffee I stink caffeine I drink alcohol when not preggo and I just feel bad going to church Alpine and of course all the things that I told u about with my hubby but all in all I do believe in most everything the church teaches I just hope one day I can be more active we shall see how life goes...... how r u doing?
@kteebeth you seem upset? I know many people have said they're inactive but many still believe. We have been through the two toughest months pretty much in our lives and my husband struggles with going to church and other things that have happened that I don't need to get into... but when we moved two months ago I had a calling as well and I loved it. I also enjoy visiting teaching and classes... just wanted to make that clear. Although we are looked at as rebels, which is fine, I'm respectful and proud to be of the church.
I do, however, think that bc of where I've come from and things we've been through, that we can help those relate that do not "fit into the mold"
@carrielee totally understandable. I was afraid to go to the ward that we moved into bc we came from such an understanding one. I guess we'll see how it goes, but we do have an open invitation to go back to our other one. But I have been hurt by some people who o thought cared, and understand that it is not the churches fault, but there own. Where do u live? So sad that they would be like that... you would think they would be open and friendly to show that the church is caring. I guess even in our church there is bad eggs... that's too bad. I know what its like to miss going... maybe you could visit another ward?
@momof22be I'm doing good. Hard times in life as well as ttc has certainly been trying! But I have reminders of why I am all the way out here and doing this all. And although my faith is tried at times, I am grounded by other situations that remind me of why I've joined. I hope that some day we can be stronger and have the comfort if an eternal family. But, in due time. I will never push that... but look forward to that comfort. My husband has felt with a lot and I feel that getting him back in the church more should be done as my joining was... on my own terms. but I do think I need to strengthen myself and am thinking of going to church on my own this week since he'll be working... which I haven't done since we moved out here. ...hoping that our blessing will come soon bc he just got a new job that he will have to travel for so things just got even more difficult! Agh! Lol
