baby coming when ready

edited June 2011 in Third Trimester
Ok I understand the reasons on waiting to induce to be past fourty weeks and all to make sure babies lungs are fully developed. I see a lot of people commenting that babies will come when ready, that doesn't always happen. Had I not been induced with my son then he wouldn't have come out as healthy as he did. My placenta was already starting to calicify and be usless to the baby, not to mention he passed his first bowel movement inside. So not all babies will come when they are ready. I do agree, that unless medically needed wait til about 38-40 weeks to try any self induction methods.
Just wanted to get this off my chest

  • @Mommy2IsaiahNGiselle I dunno if it is just my hormones kicking in but after seein in posted that the baby will come when it comes kinda just got to me. I tried waiting to have my baby come on his own in order for it to be a more natural labor and so that way I knew things were ok, but it didn't happen. My midwife stepped in and said we can't wait any longer your being induced. I know that due to the circumstance my midwife isn't going to let me go over at all with this pregnancy.
  • I agree bt its best to wait around 38-40 weeks like u said. Even if ur 37 weeks and considered full term, give the baby a chance to come on his/her own bt after that week, I say go for it. Especially if ur baby is already measuring far ahead.

  • @rosieisamommynow thanks for agreeing.

@Mommy2IsaiahNGiselle they keep changing my sue date as well. I know I'm due somewhere between the 19th of july and thee 3rd of august. A two week difference. I'm measuring at the 19th of june date and have all along so me and my midwife are going with that, plus at 37 weeks I have a even lb baby already who is always hiccuping and with my kidney issues she doesn't want me waiting too long.

  • @mshahir well he breathes his own feces in which can cause respiritory problems when he comes into the world. Here is a link.

As for self inductions yeah talk to your doctor about it, but in all honesty I don't think that they work. I mean if they worked wouildnt more of the women on pregly who attempted most of them have had their babies. Personally the only think ill do to *induce* my labor is sex, I personally do think I need to put my body through that pain lol.. that is jusst personal.. although I am going to eat the labor cake but only because I love chocolate and it sounds like a good recipie :)

  • @Mommy2IsaiahNGiselle I don't like my doctor either. It is like when hou know something about your body and you can feel it deep inside (intuition) and the doctors think they know more then you because they have a degree. I have on more then one occassion had to correct my doctor about medication that were being perscribed because I know what I'm allergic to and apparenty he doesn't know or wasn't paying attention. you had steriods to help develop the lungs a few weeks ago when you went to the hospital right?

  • This is my biggest fear about being overdue right now. It's frustrating the waiting around but more worrysome when my body won't give an labor signals at all! 40+4 now
  • I think all the inducing tricks are myths and harmless... I always talk to my OB before trying anything. And he always laughs and and reminds me if the baby isn't ready it won't work, but have fun trying.

This lasr visit was a complete opposite... He's ready to rake the baby.. cause just like @kalikojenie baby will be better our then in.
  • I'm starting to wonder if... You try and push your body before its time... Does it end up taking extra longer.

    That's how I'm feeling
  • Estimated due dates are just that - an estimate! If its not apparently healthy to continue a pregnancy or stop an early labor, you should trust ur doc or midwife to make that decision, as well as do ur own research, monitoring and trust ur body. Due dates are great for keeping track of milestones & development but they don't mean squat as far as actual birthdays. I've read that <5% of babies r born on due date. I don't tell people my dd anymore cause they tell me how huge I am and say other rude things. People seem to get obsessed with a number. That's what bothers me. Not disagreeing with u ladies, just ranting!
