  • I was 15 when I saw my sis being born, I stayed at my moms head but after she was born, I walked in to see the afterbirth! Traumatising lol!
My daughter is 11 she wanted to b there but I worry about complications freaking her out.
  • My 11yr old son and 9 yr old daughter are going to be in the room with me. My 9yr old wants to cut the cord.
  • Ty @all I'm worried bwt tht but my mum could take her out and @camommy georgias asked to cut cord aswell when seen it on telly and wants to put nappy on I think would be good for her I'm also worried bwt her freaking out spesh as won't even b 5 but she's mature for her age will ;/ hmmm very hard choice xx
  • My oldest son who was 2 at the time was in the room for a little while when I was in labor but wasn't planning on him staying. He seen me get an epi and it scared him. I have decided that I don't even want them at the hospital until after I have this baby.

  • My 9 year old daughter will be in the room up by my head and there will be someone there to take her out if needed
  • My 2 year old was in there wit me . He did great he wanted to be wit her as soon as she came out.
  • Check with your hospital. Some have different rules about children being present during birth and what age is aloud and not.
I was present for two of my siblings births. Each one I had to have a "guardian" other then my mom and dad. So my mom had a friend to be there for me each time.
Also, with both I had to attend a type of birthing class they have for children. It was just a one day class, can't remember how long it was. But each hospital required that I take it.
  • My 10 year old sister wants to be in the room when I have my baby and I am a little nervous about it but we will see.
  • I had my daughter june 17 and our 5 yearold son was in the room from start to finish. He watched the entire thing and helped cut the cord. My dr said she was worried when she saw him at first but was amazed at how behaved he was.
  • My daughter was in the room when my son was born, she had just turned 5. She saw everything and was completely fine, it could be bc she saw herself being born on tape. Last Aug at age 9 she saw my niece being born. Now with this child I have to decide if my 6 year old son will be in the room, he wants to and swear its his baby! He will be by my head of course, I just know he will ask me a million questions! I am one if those people who like a lot of people in the room, have no problem showing my goods, lol. First child I had 11 people in the room.
  • The l&d suites at my hospital have an attached sitting room with a television and sofa. I am planning on my kids being in there during the actual delivery. It helps that my oldest is 13 and can help supervise my 3 year old.
  • I am so glad you posted this. I felt like I was crazy for wanting my 3 1/2 year old in the room. I just know we are gonna other people in the rooms and I want to be the first to see and hold him to bond. I am not sur what the hospital policy is though.
  • my 5yr old son watches baby programs with me also and one day outta the blue he said "mommy can I stay home when you go to the hospital to have the baby? I don't wanna see you cry and scream. I'll just go after she's here" :) I wanted him there if he wanted to be there but he made it clear he doesn't wanna see his mommy hurting.
  • If u think she can handle it
My daughter is almost 8 and I can't even watch those shows around her. She gets scared and tells me she doesn't want babies when she grows up lol
  • I think its neat u all have had other children in the room. But its not for me! Lol! If I was my daughters age she's nine btw I don't think id wanna c that! Scares me enough being on the giving end! Good luck!
  • Ask your doc some hospitals wont let kids in there...as long as she has someone to basically watch her incase she gets scared or things happen that she doesn't need to see I say go for it just explain to her y u might cry or scream so she doesn't get upset
