Not getting full!??!?

edited June 2011 in Breastfeeding
So my son is 15 days old and for the past 3 days he's been very very fussy...everytime i feed him on my breasts, he never seems full. I let him nurse for as long as he wants to and most of the time he will fall asleep on the 1st, i will burp him, and feed him on the other side..and he will fall asleep after 15-20 minutes or so and then when i lay him down, he will start to scream and show signs of being hungry and will spit out a pacifier. When my boyfriend came home from work, he gave him some formula...and bam...he was fine...and the same thing just happened today. Is it possible that it's a "different kind of full?"....I know breast milk goes through their system much quicker...and i know he;s getting enough because he's having many poopy and wet diapers during the day. I will feel like a failure if i cant breastfeed. Has anyone else had this problem or have any advice?

  • I let Ava nurse on one breast, burp her then give her the same breast. Then I pump the other one after...most of the time. If she's having one of those days where she wants to eat all the time I don't pump. I just let her nurse alternating breast. Sometimes she will go 3-4 hrs and then other days she's starving after an hour.
