Let me just say... I was dead set on no pain meds when I was in labor with my daughter back in May, but things got sooo intense I ended up getting one. Before I got one, I was not progressing, I had been in labor for 7 hours. Once I got one, I went from a 3 to a 10 in like 2 and a half to 3 hours. For me, the epidural relaxed me and allowed my body to dialate quicker because I was relaxed. If you opt for one, just keep in mind that the worst part (for me anyways) was not being able to see what they were doing back there! It truly doesn't hurt, there is a tiny pinch/sting when they insert the needle and then it's comfort and relief from there on out. Just a little advice to maybe ease your mind!
