**updated* normal or signs of early labor?? - went to l&d

edited July 2011 in Pregnant
Okay so after my husband ate at olive garden, I noticed I lost my mucus plug or part of it. It was thickish and green. Then we came home and I've been having braxton hicks contractions, and now I'm having some light cramping off and on (like the beginning of a period). But the baby is still moving around. I've been really tired and just have little energy. And I'm 30 weeks...I've been reading online...and it says its the beginning of labor or it will just regenerate itself. Any experience with this, this early on? Should I be worried?

  • Wish I could give ya some advice but I have nooo clue I'm a first timer :)
  • My dr said if I had any weird discharge to call them.. wouldn't hurt to call and check
  • I don't think your plug should be green... but not positive.
  • I guess I'll have to call l&d cause my doc office is closed.
  • Your plug isn't green. Its white/clear and it looks like your blowin snot/jelly out your crotch, gross I know. Call ur doc, there will be a number to reach him or someone at. Just to be safe.
  • @mama_underpants It was like snot, maybe the lighting in the restaurant bathroom made it look green. I've read it can be kinda greenish, idk. But I know it wasn't normal discharge. I called l & d and she said unless my braxton hicks contractions have a consistent timing, then I don't need to come in. So far they've just been random.
  • It can be green and usually pieces will come off. The part that is worriesome is the cramping. I'd call your doctor.
  • @Jess510 I did call L&D and she said the light cramping is normal with the braxton hicks contractions. I just have to be worried if the contractions are consistently the same time apart.
  • Ok good... babys not ready yet!
  • I had some greenish discharge around that time too. I would make an apt with obgyn if you continue to have it, mine was just normal discharge.
  • @Jess510 yes, she is not ready! She still has 9 more weeks.
  • update* Just lost a little more of my mucus plug...oh boy
  • Well my doc says if I have more then four contractions in an hour that won't stop after drinking water and laying down just to go to labor and delivery..don't bother even calling..might just go in anyways..they will check you and will make sure ur fluids are still good...so ull see the baby.
  • Update** after I lost another part of my mucus plug, I started to cramp a little more and started to have more lower back pain. So I called l&d and she told me to take two extra strenght tyelnol, lay down, and drink lots of water. And in an hour if I'm still feeling the same I have to go into l&d because I shouldn't be losing my mucus plug at 30 weeks and we don't know if about preterm labor history because this is my first baby. I hope everything is okay!

  • @ashleyfew the cramping isn't really timeable, its kinds like that cramping you get before you get your period, it just lingers. The nurse I talked to was worried that I was also having lower back pain and that my mucus plug was light greenish. So if it doesn't let up in 10 mins, I have to call l&d and more than likely go in.

  • I hope your not going into preterm labor :( good luck mamma!!
  • **update* my husband and I are driving to the hospital now. The cramping, back pain didn't stop from the tylenol. Still about a 20 minute drive. This baby girl needs to stay in!!!
  • Praying for you girl
  • Any updates? Praying for you and your baby.
  • Hope all is well!
  • I hope all is ok, glad you are going to the hospital to get it checked out
  • I lost green snot discharge and its just discharge so that's nothing to worry about. The cramping I got also so lets hope its just prego pain. Keep us updated. They can stop your labor too so keep your head up. You're in my prayers
  • Any updates. I hope your doing ok.

  • update*** I went into l&d around midnight, and they hooked me and the baby up to the monitors. The baby's heartbeat was great and she was kicking me the entire time. The doctor checked me and I wasn't dilated. They had me drink tons of ice water and just stay there to monitor us. But I'm home now, and were both fine. No pre-term labor, thank gosh! The nurse thinks everything was set off from sex...she said having sex will make me start to contract. So yeah, I hope that doesn't happen after every time my husband and I have sex!
