Once you give birth, do they let you dress your baby? Or not till they come home?

I was just curious, because I'm 30 weeks, almost 31 and I want to be able to put a sleeper on my baby, and I'm slowly packing the bag. Is it gonna be pointless to even pack it? Lol.

  • No, go ahead! They have onesie there for you just in case you need it but if you want you can bring your own.
  • Yes you can dress you baby
  • Yay! (: Are there particular things that the baby can't wear? Since the little clamp will be on her belly button still?
  • The hospital is usually kept pretty warm. They gave me long sleeve button front shirts for my daughter then I just swaddled her. I dressed her before we went home.
  • The hospital im going 2 they dont even take ur baby out the room anymore. Only 4 the hearing and other tests. They told me that cause when parents go home they call and ask ?s all the time cause they were taking ur baby 4 the first night and parents didnt get use 2 having the baby full time.
  • @mz_sanders - them taking my baby would drive me insane! I would have said no way in he$$!!! Lol...
@kaylarose07 - mine dressed ours in a long-sleeved onsie & a hat & I used their swaddling blankets because they were bigger than mine & it was horribly cold in our room & all I had brought was short-sleeved onsies! But no, you don't have any restrictions on what can go over the umbilical cord stump. It has no feeling in it & most baby clothes are perfectly soft enough not to irritate it. :)
  • Thanks guys! (: I love this app!!
  • Here in aus they let u dress them in Ur clothes however u cant bath em till there 12hrs old + so there bodys to adjust there own temps
