Im honestly terrified ☞ C-Section

The doctors r realky pushing that i have a c-secction when its time... im only 13 weeks now, so i guess that gives me 25 more weeks to freak out (have to deliver at 38 weeks). They say that watching the videos online will help because i will know what to expect, but im terrified to have my stomach cut open while im wide awake. Ugh... and i want my hubby to cut the cord, and i want to be coherent when i see my first child :'( any insight ladies?

Ditto on what Kate says. Is it a medical reasoning why they want you to get one? Or is just pushing it just because? If there isn't a good reason why, I would switch drs
  • I'm not sure why you think you wont be coherent???

Your husband can still cut the cord..not like if you were to deliver vaginally but the Dr will cut it and then allow your husband too.
  • Why do they want you to get one?

  • @caffeinated_katie because im diabetic, my specialist wont let me go full term because theres a chance for still born. Thy could try to induce me, but why go through hours of pain when it will probably lead to an emergency c-section anyways?
@Mama_kat hugs back! I want natural also. The only thing im happy about is picking my babies bday... im so scared

  • Drugged up is not the norm. You'll be fully awake and coherent. You wont feel anything from like your chest down pain wise. You will feel some pressure and tugging but that's about it. There's a curtain so you can't even see whst they're doing.
  • Its not all that bad I had 2
  • i know what u mean. but honestly its not as scary as u think i will be. i had a c section may 6 with my first. it wasn't planned. i was admited into l&d may 2 at 34 weeks bcus of cramping and when they did a profile ultrasound there was no movement. i stayed overnight on moniters and babys heartrate was dropping significantly, so i eneded up staying 4 nights everyday they said if i could go 24 hrs with no drops then id go home. never got better so they planned to induce may 8, got steriods shot may5 to mature lungs. around 1am may6 heart rate plummeted to lowest at that point. ok the scariest part of everything was having all these nurses rushing in looking and adjusting moniters, talking amongst themselves with words and abbreviation i didn't understand, being by myself cuz everyone went home for the night, and i could understand they were suggesting getting the dr and prepping for surgery. before i know it I'm getting a catheter and iv hookups. bd was called back asap and i was wheeled off. I'm not gonna lie i was absolutely terrified. i really wanted to try vag birth, but i knew that when i was going to be induced there was a huge chance id end up with c section anyway. well once i got to the or they sat me up for my spinal. on a scale it only hurt like 3 or 4. after that kicks in ( about 2 min later) its all cherry pie. it felt f-ing amazing that morphine takes all the bad feeling away! lol. bd made t just in time to be in there. u don't see or feel them cut u. i made a comment to the nurse by my head that i was woried id feel h incesion, when he said hon they already made it. ooohh ok cool. and there would be a medical staff sitting right by your head to talk u through everything and that helps a lot. 7 minutes after the insecion i heard my sons cry and every fear and worry flew out the building. and about your bd cutting the cord... they cut a long piece off with baby and the nurses asked him if he wnted to cut it (the rest off). he said no cuz he's a wimp but they should be able to have that option for u guys. ask your dr about it they will make it possible. the most painful part of my entire c section birth experience wasn't the surgery, not the 3 days following of healing,(which wasn't even bad at all), it was the first poop u take after. omfg. for me i wasn't able to go for about 3 days. honeslty hon thats the only part u should be terrified of. and now that its over, and i had absolutely no pain giving birth to my son, I'm kind of glad i had a c section and not a painful, tearing, stretching vag birth. and i have the option of a vbac with good chances of success if i prefer with a second when/if the time comes. not all c sections are an absolute no vag birth ever again. and with surgeries u get to stay in the maternity ward longer before they send u home. some people don't like staying in the hospital and want to go home as soon as the cord is cut and baby is cleaned. i personally wish i could've stayed for a month. i liked the nurses being around to do everything for me, if i had a question i just rang a bell. housekeping cleans up after u everyday, personal chefs cook for u and no dishes(i say personal bcuz i filled out a menu of what i wanted everyday i didn't just have to eat whatever they make)and the food wasn't horible either. everything was taken care of so i could be with my baby. its just another benefit of surgery. so don't be scared its like everyone says; after u meet your baby u forget about all the bad stuff right away!:) sorry so long i just wanted to tell u my experience because i feel the same as u but its not even worth stressing over its not bad at all! good luck and congrats on your new pregnancy <3
  • I'm not sure, I only heard this from someone, but I thought diabetics weren't supposed to get cut

  • @ Caffeinated_katie i know it will be worth it in the end, but i just am getting worked up now, just dwelling on it.
@mrs_shu i guess im just scared that i will feel it even tho im not supposed to... i worry alot
@babyontheway thank u so much. That helped alot. I just stress over things that i cant control.
@armywife3 yeah, we can get cut
  • Wow that's pretty early. I had to have a csection due to my baby being over 9 lbs and my pelvis was too small to attempt it. I was pretty nervous but it goes by quick. I went in at 8:00 had her at 8:24 then I was in recovery at 8:45.. you can also ask to be put completely under. My mom did it and I know a few people that had it done due to nerves.
  • @homebirthadvocate my first apt i was 7 days pregnant. My sugars r fine now, but were 400 when they checked then. Ive been in the hospital and now cant go more than 10 days with out seeing a specialist. He is the top diabetic specialist in the area for pregnant women and he is the one who refuses to let me go full term. Im ok with that.
  • @kayleigh27 as dumb as it sounds, i dont want to be put under
  • How do you get the little hand?
