5 Weeks and cramping

edited February 2011 in First Trimester
My wife is a little over 5 weeks and complaining of cramps. Is this pretty normal. I'm trying to keep her calm, but it seems to be worrying her a lot.

  • I had quite a bit of light cramping early on in my lower pelvis, and my doc said it was nothing to worry about, just the uterus growing
  • Yes, this is perfectly normal. I'm 6 wks and my cramping is starting to go away. Her uterus is gearing up for some major changes. It's normal to cramp. My ovaries also cramped a lot. Which is normal because they are working to support pregnancy. I cramped from about 4-5 1/2 weeks. I still feel crampy in my ovaries from time to time. I would suggest having her call her docs office to talk to one of the nurses. It's not good for her to stress, and they can always set her mind at ease.
  • Thanks, that is good to hear. This is our first, so everything is new to us. She has an apt tomorrow to get some blood drawn.
  • Im 17 weeks and still cramp occasionally. Its totally normal just the uterus growing and stretching!

  • My wife is 9 weeks and she had an internal ultrasound yesterday. Last night she was up with cramps no bleeding just very uncomfortable. Is that normal and ok?

  • Had a lot until morning sickness kicked in and I couldn't tell as much, morning sickness is a good sign, mine started just before 6 weeks, its the uterus growing, as long as there is no spotting, this should be happening.
