Maternity leave, short term dis

Ughh I am 32 weeks and I do door to door sales. Its 95 degrees and humid out! My heart races, I feel weak and yet my boss looks at me like "suck it up". What can I do to get out of work? My sales are plummeting, im stressing out about losing my job and ppl look at me like I'm just whining :(

  • Can you get a dr.'s note?

  • You can start your fmla leave if your company offers it. It gives you 12 weeks, unpaid. If your dr writes a note that says you can't work, you might be able to get disability, if you pay for it already. I used mine when I had my daughter, but it only pays for 6 weeks, so you don't want to use it too early.
  • @mommy_of_two My boss is a woman who claims she didn't have any aches or pains 28 years ago when she had her daughter.

@laura536 im using some of my fmla time now to lower my quota. I take a day off every week. The first 3 I had to use my paid time and now they are unpaid days. If I get a drs note I will get paid 100% for 7 weeks (the first five are my vacation days) and 75% for 6 weeks. I believe my maternity leave would kick in after 8 weeks and I would get 100% again but im not sure. Problem is they are only required to hold my position for 12 weeks. Idk what to do but this heat and humidity isn't good for anyone, let alone a pregger!
  • My boss is the same way. She's had two kids and said she played basketball through both pregnancies. She's extremely unsympathetic and says really rude and hurtful things out of the blue. I'm a cashier and were required to stand in one place, bag our own customers groceries and that causes me to have to twist back and forth all times during the day. And the lifting us starting to make me faint. I had a doctors note to have a stool and they tried to take it away after approving it so I went to the eeoc and labor board and showed them my findings and only then did they give me my stool. A lot of thw ppl at work support me its just my one boss. I have two but she has personality enough for both and influences almost all the decisions made. I'm about to quit and file for disability and I'm 26 weeks. Ppl at work have started asking me if I'm alright bv my face is always showing the pain.
I know what you're dealing with hun. Go on your states disability page online Google it if u have to and find out what you're entitled to bc the A.D.A. has pregnancy as a disability. Good luck!
  • Nice, your maternity leave sounds way better than mine! Maybe you could just tough it out two or three more weeks and then go on leave. This heat is miserable though!
