I'm 33weeks1day & the classes start next Monday. I was wondering if they are worth going to? Did they help you learn a lot of stuff that will be useful?
I didn't do birthing classes but I did take a breat feeding ...it seemed very informative...n u can find them for free...we have a local breast feeding center and a nurse offers them at no cost!
I went to a child birth class. I loved it. Very informative. I didn't have to pay since it went by my income. I have another class.next weekend. I can't wait
We had our second one tonight and what a waste of time!!! I feel like they don't respect going natural at all and all they have really said is stay calm be relaxed and stay hydrated I'm actually thinking of not even going to the next three. I left there tonight pissed off.
Oh and they demo how a fake baby doll moves thru a plastic pelvis...they are about as informative as sex ed if u ask me. I learned more by reading on my own
I am taking Bradley classes and I love them! Its geered towards natural child birth. You learn what you body does and goes through how the baby is even working and moving during labor. You learn what positions you can do while in labor and relaxtion coping techniques for the pain. There are also exersizes and nutrition to stay healthy during your pregnancy and they cover.breastfeeding. It was pricey but thwy teach you so much and for me its a.13 week lonh corse. One day a week for two hours
My class was sooo wonderful it was a labor, delivery, baby care and lactation class. It was so informative not only did I learn a lot I got to spend time with a lot of other mothers to be with due dates right next to mine. We also started ours when we were about 23-25wks. I wouldn't waste the money if you might not even make all the classes. The maine person it helped was my bf really he liked knowing everything that was going on. (Just have your support system look up massage techniques and you check out signs of labor and different coping techniques) you'll do great girl!
try ask your dr his opinion at your next checkup im going to ask him if its worth it and if he says so then im gonna try see if they have lowercost ones or free or your dr may have classes he likes to reccomend
I did with my first and all I can say is when I was in labor that breathing technique did not effin work!!!! so I say its not worth it lol and when I gave birth to my daughter the hospital had a lactation that helped explain what to do but its all up to you GL
I say if you have money to blow then DO IT! I unfortunately do not have 65 $ for someone to tell me to breath deeply n remain calm. But if u have the luxury of going then heck why not!?
I have a friend who didn't take any classes, but she did read a lot. She said none of the labor readings were helpful, but she said the est thing she read was "The Womanly Art of Breast Feeding". It was really helpful for her, i haven't read it, I've read the what to expect while expecting and re first year and they seem plenty informative to me. Not too much you can do with a mouth and a nipple.
I dont think so. While in the hospital there is a lactation specialist available. Mothers instinct kicks in also very quick. I think they are a waste of money. Every labor and child is different, and nothing can really prepare you. You just kinda go with the flow
@sydneyleann23 - The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding is an amazing book and you would be surprised at how much there is involved with that little mouth and nipple. If you have time you should read it maybe your friend can loan it to you?
I also suggest anyone who plans on breastfeeding to read that book. It has SOOO much information, and easy to reference sections for later if you come across a new problem. It's also full of information on how to contact people/hotlines for help.
And you can also attend a local La Leche League meeting for free, and they are more then happy to help answer any and all questions.
@excitedforbaby I opted for the longer course instead of sitting for 8 hours and breaking it up over the weeks. I retain better with shorter amounts then trying to cram everything in just 8 hours lol.
U dont need um I took cb classes n only thing I used was the breath in thru the nose and out thru the mouth lol any dumb ass can do that.. U can do the bf class but u can also go online and watch bf instructional videos.. Theyer just as informative

@LittleFae mine kinda like that too,but without the bf part. And mine is an 8 hr course.
