Question!

edited July 2011 in Breastfeeding
Had my baby 2 weeks ago and breast feeding has been going good. I got lazy a few times in the middle of the night and had improper latches! Ouch! They are healing but I still feel some discomfort. I have large breasts and areolas so I feel its a little more tricky for me to get a good latch everytime. I use the football hold because its the easiest. I want to know how I can get as much of the areola in her mouth. Also I have to use one hand to support her head and one to push my boob away from her nose to she can breath...is it possible to only do it one handed????

  • as your breasts slowly lose their swelling and relax with breastfeeding your breast will eventually move away from baby's nose and you'll be holding her. one handed, fixing dinner, while breastfeeding. lol. when baby first latches go ahead and take your index finger and swipe the inside of baby's lips. it will give better guidance to wrap baby all the way around your areola.

  • Thanks @survivormommie3 @caffeinated_katie.....haha I dunno about cooking dinner while doing it lol! I know its only been 2 weeks and I'm doing a lot better with my daughter than I did with my son. I don't have any feeling to give up on it either. I stopped after 5 weeks with my son and wish I would've done it longer! :)

  • @caffeinated_katie....I have a friend that actually made one for me and was going to try it out. I think it'd be nice when out since it would cover up your front!
