3hr Glucose Test Now HELP!!

edited July 2011 in Health
So apparently i failed my 1hr glucose test. I go tomorrow to take the 3hr test. Has anyone failed the 1hr and passed the 3hr? Im a bit worried because im at high risk for pre-eclampsia and preterm labor due to my pre-existing history. Gestational diabetes increases those risks. I drink lots of water and walk at least 6hrs a day. Im just worried for the health of my baby girl.

  • I didn't pass, I actually failed and ended up being diagnosed with GD at 24 weeks. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to prevent it, its hit and miss from what I understand. The biggest risk is that baby gets too big and cannot be delivered vaginally. My daughter was born at 38+2 and was 7lbs 6ozs, but she lost 9 ounces in two days due to the amount of fluid she retained because of the GD.

Managing the GD isn't terrible, you just have to take it easy on carbs and sugar. The worst part, for me, was having to remember to check my glucose levels 2 hours after I ate.

Hopefully you pass with flying colors and have one less worry. I had a slew of issues that caused me to be high risk so I know the burden you carry. Hopefully things go well for you momma!
  • I am also doing the three hour test tomorrow. Good luck!
  • Am i able to drink water while fasting for it or no?
  • I think small amts are okay.
  • Ill be 29 weeks on sunday and haven't had massive weight gain yet so hopefully everything is fine, but like i said im very active and i drink tons of water.
  • I am also 29 Wks Sun. I've been in the same boat with high blood pressure worries for preclampsia and going to the Dr every 2 Wks since beginning of June. Walking and drinking lots of water. I've been eating lots of my veggies from my garden to try to stay healthy. I just think these little ones want to make as big an impact on us as possible before coming out. Hope your test is early! I also was told to bring something to eat after the test like crackers since it will have been a while since you last ate.
