At my last appt the dr. Mentioned tht I had high blood pressure && thn she said I was at risk for preclampsia.. what are the risk of having this with pregnancy? Can I do anything to prevent it?
you can drink lots of water, but i believe you can't do anything about it. high blood pressure and water retention are the most common flags to pinpoint preeclampsia. just do your best to stay calm and relax.
i had it with my son and had to be induced at 39 weeks! im 28 weeks pregnant now and showing signs that i will have it again! JUST HOPING i can make it to 38 weeks its scary but the doctors will watch you carefully and make sure your ok! try not to stress about it to much its just more trips to L&D being watched closely 24 hour urine catches and then last resort being induced! How far along r u?

@island_mommie2b aww that's sweet like I was just saying my so called friends are no where to be found so I love having pregly! Id go crazy without u guys
@island_mommie2b awe thanks sweetie I hate that I haven't been on in awhile I started working twelves 5 days a week & watching the kids during the day, its wearing me way down when I have time to do anything its usually sleep. (check your other thread)
@island_mommie2b yeah my bags under my eyes already have bags under them...I look like a 90 year old woman, they are transitioning me from A crew to D crew so I have to work odd hours until I get there its heck on me but love the pay check!
I developed high blood pressure at 24 weeks with my last pregnancy. I started a medication to help with it, monitored my bp at hone twice a day, and increased my protein intake to 100 grams a day (it helps you with water retention). My first 24 hour urine was at 27 weeks and it came back borderline high. I then had to do 24 hour urine tests even two weeks until I delivered. At 38 weeks it was markedly elevated and I was induced.
@island_mommie2b lol I already have the bones to prove I'm an old woman my knees are not good one is really screwed up, I seriously think I have carpal tunnel & I think my scoliosis has gotten worse...but still busting my butt every day.
i just got diagnosed with pre-e yesterday and right now i am on strict bedrest and can only get up to go to the bathroom. tomorrow i will b talking to my dr about setting a date for induction. its not fun
I'm in the same boat as Jazzi, its totally not fun. As long as your monitored things will be okay. I'm off to the doc in about 3 hours to talk induction.
My little one's kidneys and heart are a bit dialated because of my hypertension the thing keeping me as relaxed as possible is trying to be healthy for her. The doc said is I end up preclampsic and she is only 2 lbs then I will have a 2lb baby. No 2pound baby for me thanks. Lots of water minimal sodium walks when possible and got rid of toxic people who were causing me stress. Lots of luck it is not easy but will be worth it when you have that baby in your arms.
I had preeclampsia with my first Nd only pregnancy I never had problems with my bp before though. I was going to be induced at 28 weeks and got the steroids shots for my babys lungs scheduled a c section and everything. I refused I started a low sodium diet it was horrible I had to monitor everything I was eating. Be on bed rest and do lots of 24 hr urine tests. I was able to keep my bp down with the diet and made it to 36 weeks when they said the baby is not growing anymore have to get it out. I was proud I lasted that long most women don't make it but to 33 wks. My liver started failing though
