Decreased fetal movement in 3 trimester.

edited August 2011 in Third Trimester
I'm trying not to get too paranoid but my little one isn't as active now. (for the past couple of days) I just ate and usually my baby is kicking and punching.... I got nothing now. I felt one tiny flutter earlier. I haven't felt the baby really move since last night around 10pm. Is this normal? Should I drink some coffee or something? I'm 30 wks today.

  • Any decrease in fetal movement should be reported to your dr right away it can be a sign something is wrong not trying to scare you. My lo didn't move the other day and he is always super active I called my midwife and she haas me meet her at the hospital for a non stress test of course one she hooked me up to the monitors he started moving like crazy but it was just a relief to know he is ok
  • Try to make him or her to move right away. Even though you have passed the danger some it is still there. Of he moves he is ok. Usually as you get further along your baby doesn't move as much because is growing and there isn't much space to swim around and toss and turn in there. However if he or she doesn't move go to the er. Better safe than sorry
  • Not some zone
  • If your not feeling movement it could just be baby position. But always have a medical professional to check it out. they say you should have a cold sugary drink, then go lie quietly to count the amount of kicks in an hour. Anything less than ten in an hour, it's important to get checked out to be reassured all is ok.
  • im 32 weeks n some days nyla is very active n some days shes not but I will feel her but not as strong n as much cuz around this time baby is trying to position itself n be comfy :)
  • For me my daughters movements have slowed down a bit in the last few weeks. I'm 35 weeks. Not as many acrobatic kicks and punches lol but more rolling and pushing against me. My midwife said as long as there's significant movement everyday its fine. They also sleep a lot more now.
  • Thanks everyone! I drank some juice and I counted around 10ish movements in an hr. Some were really light so it was hard to tell. I'm gonna call my midwife and let them know. I think that's ok though.
  • Its very common to have less movement in the 3rd trimester. I called l&d one night cause I had barely felt the baby move all day. But they said as long as you do feel the baby move some it is ok. Only worry when you don't feel the baby move at all
  • I'm 27 wks an mine isn't as active I told my Dr an they sed as long as I feel it everyday I'm find
