So am due on Friday aug 5 but my question is...is it possible to just have contractions in my back I keep getting this sharp shooting pain in my lower back it last about a min each time n they are about 9 mins apart can anyone help am a ftm so I have never experienced this before

I believe so. I'm first time mom as well but I believe it can start in your back.

With my first son my contractions started in my back then moved around to my tummy. Try drinking water and laying down if they keep coming and getting closer call your dr or go to l&d you could be feeling mostly back because where baby is laying

Yes some people have back labor I would go get checked

Mine never hurt on my tummy. I just had very uncomfortable back pains the whole time, even while pushing. This time is in my belly, its a big difference

i had back labor with my first because he was face up, i would go in! but i would rather get there before they are too close together it makes me feel at ease! good luck!!!!!!!
