WTF ARE THEY GONNA DO NOW? (long)

edited August 2011 in Pregnant
My nephew and his gf (Jane) told their parents that they wanted to get married. They got married on 7/31. Everyone wanted to know if it was because she might be prego. They insisted they were virgins. Jane took a preg test less than 1 mo ago. It came up neg. Well she has been getting bigger around her belly, but she insisted it was because her mom has a big belly too. Well my sister took her to the dr today cuz she has strep & bronchitis. They made her take a preg test there. POSITIVE! Well come to find out she hasn't had her period since Dec. Same as me. I am due 9/14. She's at the Health Dept now. But they have NOTHING for a baby. Where near Gulfport Ms could they get real cheap or free stuff? And she said she don't feel any movement, anybody else not feel much movement?

  • Maaybe she's one of those "I didn't know I was preg" women.
  • I don't know. Maybe its because (I forgot to mention) she is 16 and my nephew is 19. I just wish she would have told my sister so she could get prenatal care and stuff.
  • Noone else has any opinions or remarks? Seriously?
  • She's in denial. She probably does feel movement but didn't want anybody to know.
  • Try freecycle.org!!!
  • I feel my baby all day everyday. If she isn't feeling movement at 8-9 months then something is wrong. You need to get her to an OB ASAP!! Suggest adoption if they aren't ready. She could get on WIC but she isn't going to get everything she needs for free. She could try ebay or a thrift store for cheap stuff but that won't include the necessities such as formula and diapers :\ I hope everything works out!!

  • I fear for the baby! They need to place it. She knew ahw was just scared n didn't want to accept it. Baby will be better off with good parents that want it
  • The Gabriel project read my post
Pregnant moms in need read this
  • wow. ..... did she not think "gosh, maybe i could be pregnant?" when she hadn't had her period?!?!?! lmao. and I highly doubt they were both virgins until marriage... esp since a preg test showed positive and it's how many days past the day they got married? I mean, cmon. poor things..they are going to have it REALLY rough

  • @mrsG in many states it is not illegal if the parents do not charge the offender. i know here in ohio if you are 16 years old and say it's consensual then the parents have to charge the offender. however, if you are 17 years old it is legal. i forget what state but i know there is one state when if the sex is deemed "consensual" then it is not illegal @ the age of 15.
  • Garage sales are good for stuff for babies. Especially if they know that those two are a family in need. Do they belong to a church? Churches help out people all the time. Good luck to them!

  • My sis lives in Gulfport, MS! Umm but I'm not sure where they could get stuff... I can ask my sis. I'm from tx
  • @mrsG ya thats crazy. there is a kid across the street who is 14 and got his gf pregnant- she was 15. she turned 16 3 wks ago and had her baby a little less than 2 wks ago. people who were not even parents tried to get them put away for it, but they were both too young! lol

  • paralegal! paralegal! paralegal!
  • I'd start hitting thrift stores, consignment stores, etc and seeing if there are any programs to help mothers in need. She also needs to go to a doctor to get at least some prenatal care. As for the age difference, its only 3 years. That's not much at all especially as they get older. My parents are 3 years apart. I guess I'm biased tho because my husband is 20 years older than I am.
  • i have to say when i was 16 my hubby was 18 and 19. we are 2 1/2 yrs apart. so i get that.

  • parents make do with what they have. they should contact the local wic office and churches. they help a lot. but just like everyone said consignment shops, yard sales, asking friends and family for hand me downs. it is possible. and if they are the responsible type, or become the type, then i would say they have just as good a chance as the other teens. it'll be difficult, but it will help with her hubby being able to have a decent job/career.
  • Ok y'all. She apparently is due 9/2. I live in VA so there is nothing I can really do to help them plus I have a baby boy due on 9/14. Idk I guess he loves her. Even tho she is just 3 years younger than him. I am 12 years younger than my hubby so I am not going to pass judgment there, although I do think they are way to young for marriage. Thank all of y'all for responding. I already told my sis to make sure they get on wic. And about yard sales and I told them to look for ads in the paper cuz some people want to get rid of stuff cheap. My nephew is planning on military. But now idk. He is plannin on college to. He is already signed up and stuff. I do think she knew because she asked my sis to ask me when I started feeling the baby move and all. Her parents pushed for them to get married to btw. Idk I am in awe of this whole situation.
  • That's insanity tell them to look online like craigslist and such allot of people post things on there I got a bopy for $10 and a carseat cover for $5 I looked up the yardsale on craigslist and found plenty with baby things they can also apply for state aid if she will be going to school still she can get grants and such to go to schools with daycare for free
  • Im sorry too brake it too alot of u but if they are happy hooking up thats there problem i was 15 when i started seein my bf im now 17 and still with him and a baby on the way things do work out uno
  • Also hes 5yrs older then me ino it was illegal for the first half a yr but i truly did feel alot for him i wanted to get married just bcoz i wanted too b married before kids but hey and as for her fam pushin for marriage mayb they knew n wanted her married first
  • I hope baby is healthy and safe. I would make a list of what they really need vs. what "commercially" they need.

A place for baby to sleep-got a playpen for 50 bucks
New carseat-lots of fire stations/insurance companies/etc. Have programs for this
    Formula-WIC
Diapers/wipes-not sure thereis any place to get these free, hopefully they can find help (parents maybe)
Clothing/Blankets- yard sales, second hand clearance racks (I've gotten most of my Gumdrop's 1st yr clothing from here).

Its not easy, but lots of kids start out life this way and they are fine. Its going to be ok, if they have a good head on their shoulders and they have a good support team. I hope things go well, whatever they do. I do pray your nephew still pursues school and military, he'll want to have the opportunity they both provide for him, which in turn he can give his child. :)
  • I was 15 and my hubs was 21 I got married at 16 and he was 22. Did I mention we get along great? I am now 19 and he is going on 25 in dec.
