Any moms using Playtex Ventaire bottles?

edited August 2011 in Pregnant
I got three boxes for my babyshower and I'm wondering from those using them if they're worth keeping.

  • I am trying them. All 3 of my other kids had both colic and reflux so those seemed like the best choice for me.
  • I have them for my 2 month old. Only bottles she would take to having reflux/colic. I love them!
  • I used them last time and loved them so much that we're using them again this time. we used the "wide" ones, so I don't know if that affects anything or not. I do know that we never had gas or reflux issues and we only had one leaky bottle (and I'm 90% sure that was user error on my husband's part, lol!)

I'm glad you guys used them successfully cause I was really nervous after reading some reviews about them leaking.

    @bigmamak
I hope they work out for the both of us!
  • how many bottles should a mom have for baby? I've got 18 and was considering returning 1 box and having 12. Is that enough?
  • 12 is more than enough. Out of the box. I only use two just so I can hurry and wash them and not let them sit out.

so do u think I should return 2 and keep one set? I'm so lost lol... @jcmommy
  • I like to have 12 small bottles and 12 large bottles(when they are bigger). I like to have extra in case I don't get to wash them right away. Especially recovering from a csection plus I have 3 other kids so I will be very busy. I just make sure they are rinsed right away. I hope they work for us too! lol
  • @bigmamak
lol I'm gonna follow your footsteps and keep the 12 bottles!
  • I am ive heard nothing but good things about them
  • I am my nephew used one and it worked very well! And that way for sure you know they are not swallowing air in their lil bellies:)

ya I read on some reviews that they leak but Idk if there is something specific to do to prevent that.. I wanna try a box at least n see how it goes

  • I will b trying them my sil loved them
  • I used them with my last two and will with this baby also. Love them!
  • Oh sorry I didn't see vent air Lol. I'm thinking of drop ins....nevermind
  • I used them with my last baby and we hated them. They leaked and there were a bunch of pieces.
  • @vlynn15
    any problems cleaning them?
  • @Texamama3x
:( I'm still trying to figure out what's up with the leakage... what causes it????
  • They worked good at first and after a few weeks we noticed wherever we stood the bottle there was a ring of milk on the counter. We couldn't figure out what we were doing differently. We thought the seals must have worn out quickly.
  • @Texamama3x
what'd u switch to and how's it working out?
  • I used them for a year with my son and I loved them. Any bottle his dad made leaked. You just have to put the bottom level. It's very easy to mess up. But they are amazing for colic. Or just preventing gas. I breastfed and pumped and used those bottles and he transitioned back and forth so easily. I'm using the same bottles for this baby. I saved them because I love them.
  • I used playtex ventaire with my son. He had acid reflux and they seemed to be the best fit. I also tried dr browns and playtex dropins without success. Good luck!
  • We went with evenflow. They were cheap and lasted until he was off bottles. With this baby I'm going to try NUK. my friend uses those and loves them and the nipple is not too fat or skinny. I would do the evenflow ones again if my friend hadn't showed me the NUK (their also very cute).
  • @babynumber02
put the bottom leveled??? that little clear piece or the cap that goes over it? lol I feel so lost and its just a bottle
  • Both. The clear peice has to be flat then if you screw the cap on funny it will mess up the clear piece. I always add water to the bottle then the formula. If I messed up the clear piece only water will leak and I won't waste my formula. If you have the pre mixed formula I would add some water to the bottle and then dump it until you get the hang out it. Accidents always happen. At night I would make three bottles with just water and let them sit on my night stand so when my son woke up I just had to add formula. There were ones when one bottle would leak the water everywhere. But I know I was rushing to get to bed and it was my fault
  • there were nights when one bottle leaked*
