Tomorrow is my 41 week appointment and biophysical ... *update* ***UPDATE #2 in comments***

Ok ok ok - so seems many of my friends including you guys on here are getting induced and it's real successful.
I was told that at 2cm and 80% effaced that sense my baby was semi high still, inducing would take 2 days to complete. BUT... other people aren't/weren't even anywhere near being dilated and had no where close to a 2 day labor :-/
I love the feeling of having Jemma kick around in my tummy but I'm ready to have her out and in my arms.
I have a total of 4 midwives I have to see just in case one can't be there and I'll still be comfortable. My favorite midwife is the one that said she won't induce me but the one I saw last week said that it's important we do what I can to help and I've been doing all she said. I'm not trying to complain but I think that 40 weeks 4 days is long enough!!! lol
"Just wait on the baby" is all I hear but daggum! So many women would still be pregnant if left up to their baby, am I wrong? I am PRAYING that I am dilated a little more and if I'm not, and it's another woman, I'm going to ask again about induction. I don't see why there are so many inductions yet mine will take 2 days just because I'm not dilated passed 2. Hmm... I'm no professional but I don't wanna be a push over because they don't want to induce me.
What do you guys think? Should I just go with what the other midwife said and leave it to the baby and just be induced when it's time for the "cut off" at 42 wks OR ask about being induced because each and every day, I get more frustrated to read how others that aren't even due and aren't even dilated are having successful inductions. I'm extremely happy for them but it makes me want to smack my midwives. lol <3

Thanks Ladies!!! >:D< I'll update after my appointment and am asking for tons of prayers that my little girl is almost ready. :-D

*update*
Well Jemma didn't pass the practice breathing test so I'm in maternity assessment being monitored. They're thinking about keeping me because I haven't progressed. Still 1-2cm 80% effaced. . . I am praying they'll keep me because it would suck to go home just to come back in a week. :-( I'm sipping a coke to see if we can get a better strip to check contractions and heartbeat. God knows what He's doing but am praying He'll do it today lol :-)

  • I say go for it!! 40 weeks is as far as I would go lol.. I think they're just giving you worst case scenario of course it could end up a csection as well. . My friend got induced at 2 cm and she had her baby in 4 hrs.. one girl today was induced at 5 cm (so she says) and had her baby in 9 hrs
  • my OBGYN won't let me go past 40+3days. He says he is going to induce if I get that far. So I don't see why getting induced now would hurt you! Ask for it... I am 35 weeks and want him out. My Dr asked if I wanted to be induced at 39 weeks just because some women get tired of being pregnant. Seriously thought about it... decided to wait until 40 exactly then he is going to induce if little man isn't here...

ASK Girlie!!! Go for it! Good luck I hope baby comes soon!
  • @lily_glz @married1sttimemom Aww thanks girls!!! You're right - this is my first baby and I guess they think I don't know any better. I'm going to ask - thank you for being encouraging. I just hope it works lol Good luck to you guys too! I can't wait to read updates and see pictures. :-D
  • I was induce at 1 cm 15 hours
  • They don't know that it is going to take 2 days and them saying it is as of its a sure thing is a load of crap! Every body is different as well as our bodies....sounds like they are trying to talk you out of it, rather than five you the right information and pros and cons of inductions. Do what you think is right for you!
  • i wouldn't get induced unless i was 41 weeks and 3 days, that's my doctors cut off and i think that's reasonable (unless you have a gigantic baby or something). since induction increases the chance of having a caesarean i wouldn't want to opt to be induced, just my opinion but maybe you should wait it out a few more days before you ask for an induction, i hear it brings on stronger and more painful contractions anyway - the more you can let happen naturally, the better, i think :)
  • @ash1la I thought the same thing. I wondered how they knew it'd take that long which is why it upset me so much. Thank you for the support. :-)

@smiley17 I understand where you're coming from. My midwives cut off is 41 wks 6 days but it just sucks to wait that long - i mean why should people have to and if theyll end up inducing anyway, why wait another week? How far along are you and is this your first? :) oh and the reason I am not waiting to ask is because this is my 41 wk appt and the next one won't be until next week & feel I'm going crazy. Lol
  • that's fair enough, i also feel like i've had enough of being pregant haha i am 38 weeks and 3 days and its my first time :) maybe tomorrow at your appointment you could ask them to schedule an induction but make it in a few days so that you still give your baby a bit more time in case it comes out on its own anyway? just a suggestion :) by the time i am 41 weeks i will probably feel the same as you are feeling anyway hahaha
  • @smiley17 lol yeah - this is my first too. What are you having and congrats!!! I will take the schedule for Friday haha - that's as far as I wanna go. :-D this is exciting - isn't it?
  • congrats to you too :D i'm having a boy, how about you? that sounds good, it is very exciting! i can't wait to meet my little boy :) i have everything ready all i need now is for him to get here haha
  • @smiley17 I'm having a little girl. :-) Her name is Jemma Grace and I have everything ready too. Her little barn yard room, her hospital bag and out of all that had to be prepared... Waiting on her is the hardest. Lol I'm so excited for you - I love being pregnant but am ready :-D I am only 23 but feel like I've waited that long for her. Haha
  • that's exciting :) hehe you think 23 is young, i'm 17 :P i didn't plan this but i think its going to be amazing and i'm so lucky that my family and my boyfriend's family are all so supportive and happy for us :)
i wish you the best and hope the birth goes smoothly (and happens soon!) haha
  • @babycomingsoon143 your welcome. It just really burns me up that people allow their own views to try to control other peoples situation. Or when people say how much stronger contractions are or that it can lead to a c section not bc they have experienced but its what they have heard. We are all different and have different pain tolerance. I would never push my views on a fellow pregly but my experiences with induction were wonderful. And the second induction from start to finish was 3 hours. And both inductions were vagina births. I was 3cm dialted when we started. You do what's right for you and only births. If your miserable and feel its time ask them and ask all the questions you can so you can make a sound decision for yourself. Good luck. And I am here if u have any question.
  • @ash1la i was just giving my opinion not pushing my views on anyone
  • I was induced at 39w4days. I went in at 11pm Monday night and had her Tuesday at 11:56pm. If I k es every child I had my labor would be lime this one then I'd give hubby the 4 kiddos he wants. I would do it all over again. I wasn't dilated at all and 80%efaced.

My doctor told me before my induction she has seen people go 2days before having the baby but everyone is different. I think I would have asked at 40weeks Haha
  • I didn't say you @smiley17...I was talking about the midwives telling her it would take two days. But yes I do believe that too many people have opinions on things they have never experienced. But at the same time I read your comment and you made it very clear that it is how you feel and your opinions and I have no problem with that. Everybody is entitled to their opinions. I respect yours.
  • @navybabyonway I am with you! Lol I would have been in a mental home by now....I will go crazy if I go to my actual due date, lol. But I am highly impatient and feel like this is the slowest pregnancy of all time! Lol
  • I went 40weeks 5 days I promise its easier to wait thsn be induced ive done both n id rather wait if its ur first anyway bub will definately be here soon all the best xx
  • induction took 6hrs if ur interested
  • I was 41+1 the day I was induced. Was 3cm when started but not nearly as effaced as you were. Went to a 10 within 4 hrs and began pushing..only problem for me was it took another 4hrs of pushing because he was so high.
  • @smiley17 Aww, I'm glad you have support too. Both my boyfriends family and mine are soooo excited also!!! I hardly have any family other than the immediate dad,mom,2sisters and 1 brother BUT my boyfriend has family everywhere and the baby is so blessed to have many little cousins that are still babies. :) I didn't exactly plan mine... Actually, I had thought about ttc one day and I was counting what I would be had I got pregnant that week and when I looked at my calendar, I realized I was 6 weeks late!!! lol - crazy how things work out but God knows what He's doing. I am so happy for you. <3

@navybabyonway haha - I'm glad things worked out for you. I did ask at 40 weeks and she said "wait on baby" then I asked at the E.R. at the end of last week and that's when she said no, that it'd take me 2 days. :-/ I hope there's a different midwife this morning. lol, I can't wait. I'm so nervous and excited at ... I nervous I'm not dilated passed 2 and I'm excited if I am and want to have her sooo bad. :-D

@jtmoon98 Man... I hope I've progressed - they said she was lower when I went to the E.R. so that's good at least. I would love to go into labor on my own, of course! But... I just don't want to be told that they won't induce me and have to be induced in a week anyway... seems like it'd be a total waste of time when I could have her THIS WEEK. :-D
Everyone always said "be patient!!! Baby's lungs probably aren't even developed yet (at 37 wks) so I chilled then at 38 weeks, I wanted to try the nipple stimulation with the breast pump and asked people's opinions on here and was told it was still to early so be patient.. NOW at almost 41 weeks, I'm STILL being told to be patient. Sheesh!!! lol I seriously feel like I'm about to snap. What do I do if she says no to inducing again? I think I'll cry - I almost cried last week when I hardly progressed. I'm just in pain all the time, my feet are swollen and I don't even really look like I have toe nails. lol :">
But I do get massages all the time by my boyfriend though so I think that's totally sweet. I just can't wait to start working out, losing weight and start to feel PRETTY again!!! Being told you're pretty when I feel I'm having an "ugly day" just doesn't hack it, ya know? :-P
  • @Jaime77 Wow!!! So labor took about 8 hours all together? I'm sure pushing is no joke but I'm glad everything worked out for you!!! :) My baby really dropped and when I look down, it's like I don't even have a tummy but from the side, people say I look like I'm having twins because she's so out there and looks like she's about to come out lol She just isn't fully in the birth canal or something... like I said, this is my first pregnancy but I am SO excited and SO thankful to have all of you ladies to help me with my questions and are so willing to share your experiences. :) Thank you
  • :) it really was about the same length of time for previous births of mine. Only problem for me was the pushing, we tried all different positions I never had to do. Lol embarrassing on all fours! but I would suggest you ask for your membranes stripped then schedule a day just so you know you have an end in sight. If she comes on her own, that's great!! Good luck %%-
  • I am 41 plus 6 last fri I was 2 cm dilated and 75% effaced the dr wanted to do induction on the 10th I was so worried about it that next visit the dr spent along time talking to my hubby and me about it and decided to wait till 12th to do a nonstress and another ultrasound..then wait and see. I'm just worried because my dd kept changing that I don't want any complications. At this point late or not induction or not I just want this baby boy safe and healthy. Goodluck girls.
  • @jtmoon98 I'm not freaked out :) thank you for the info and the prayers!!! Can't have too much of either. I'll update after and will just pray for strength physically and emotionally for whatever the dr decides. *sigh* :-)

@Jaime77 oh my!!! Sure does sound embarrassing and I have a fear of that as well as using the restroom while in mid push lol I will have 4 ppl in the room w me: boyfriend, my mom, his mom and my older sister. :-) I'm excited but bummed because they won't let us take pics or videos during delivery. :-( but then again... If I have to do some crazy position, I don't wanna re live it probably. lol :-D
  • Any updates??? I hope she comes today forr ya :)
  • Ive also had good experences w induction but I did wait it out the full 42 wks.. My sis got her dr to induce her at 37, 5 I thot was weird.. But it was her 3rd and she went quickly but her baby was jaundice for the first wk but not bad enough for hospitalisation

    ***UPDATE***

Alright well I was in soooo much back pain... I was just gripping my bed rail for what seemed like forever as my contractions kept going. Although, I felt no pain besides my lower back and that SUCKED. Well, she came in and said "we have good news and bad news with some more good news after" haha so I was already disappointed in my head.

Good news: baby is doing great - super healthy with a good heartbeat of 134 bpm and my contractions are 10 minutes apart and steady.

Bad News: No induction today because there were no rooms and she really wanted to induce me today... also, there are 9 inductions scheduled for tomorrow so no induction on Wednesday.

Good News: AT 7:30 A.M. ON THURSDAY MORNING, I WILL BE GETTING HOOKED UP WITH AN IV AND PITOCIN STARTED AND WILL BE INDUCED AND WILL HAVE JEMMA!!!!! I cannot wait!!!!

I'm still not progressing and Jemma is still pretty high, and the midwife can hardly touch my cervix. She gave me some pills to stop the back pain and it worked, thank God. They're saying on estimate, Jemma weighs 8lbs 6 ounces and if they're off a little, they said by looking at her, she'd probably be bigger, not smaller. I am so hyped and so blessed!!!!!!

Thank you guys for the supportive words.. actually getting a little nervous now that I know a date. :) 8-11-11 <3
