Im excited and nervous all at the same time, only 6 days left! Booked in for elective c-sec on 16th aug, hoping this 1 is alot calmer than first emergancy c-sec i had! I was really poorly after 1st one as i hadnt slept frm the wed till fri, lost alot of blood an had to go thru full blown labour with ventouse an forceps and alot of pushing b4 they realised id been thru enough an he wasnt coming down! Anyone had both elective and emergancy? Whats the diff?

  • Whoops emergency lol
  • @misslisajane I have not had a c-section, but I can only assume a scheduled one will be much calmer. Emergency c-sections have to be very chaotic and I've heard sometimes result in the woman being completely knocked out. I would hope that your scheduled one will be pleasant and unrushed and that you can enjoy those first moments after the baby is born without fear or anxiety that I can only imagine come with an emergency situation. All the best hun!!!
  • my friend said her second cesar was easier cause she had a spinal instead of epi, I just know the sooner ur on ur feet the quicker the recovery
  • Ooh that's my and @maymommy11 's birthdayyy :) but Idk the answer to your question. Sorry :/
  • Good luck!!! hope the elective is way better than your emergency, sounded horrible!

Mine wasnt scheduled but I dont think it was an emergency. I was in labor for 48+ hours dilated to 8 and the dr said I stopped dilating and he was too big so had a c section. I was able to rest. I didnt walk till 2 days after because I had preeclampsia and was on magnesuim. But I was also on c section anestics my whole labor through my epidural. Good luck. Tell me how it is.

@MommyLovesSparkle omg yes! Was trying to see if any one on here was going to have their LO on our bday :]
  • I have had both...1after days of labor and hours of pushing, 2nd was an emergency, and 3rd was scheduled. NY 3rd was definitely easier...I was up sooner after and able to nurse my son within 30 minutes of delivery. My 1st went to nicu because she had swallowed meconium and had a slight February, but walked within an hour or two, 2nd was put to sleep due to infection, daughter went to nicu for infection and fever, and it was about 3+ hours before they would let me walk. Having #4 scheduled and praying everything goes according to plan.
  • Thanks girls im just hoping it will be different and not so scary this time around @maymommy11 & @MommyLovesSparkle lol :-)
  • @mommyo3soon2b4 i want to be up and walking soon after and dont want to stay in for more than a couple of days if alls well with me and baba, i couldnt sleep in hosp last time :-(
  • That's my goal...to be up immediately and go home in 3 days Max. I have my appt Monday and we are going to set the date and talk about my birth plan. I'm very blessed with a Dr who takes everything I say to heart and does the best he can to accommodate me. I'm also planning on bribing him with a chocolate raspberry cupcake and diet Dr pepper...I want him to do my c-section on a Saturday. I have a home daycare and will only get one week vacation.
